Coastal Climate Resilient Infrastructure Project CCRIP

The Coastal Climate Resilient Infrastructure Project (the project) is a result of the Government of Bangladesh’s participation in the Strategic Program for Climate Resilience(SPCR) prepared under the Pilot Program for Climate Resilience (PPCR). The PPCR is a program under the Strategic Climate Fund (SCF) within the Climate Investment Funds (CIF), to pilot and demonstrate ways to mainstream climate

resilience in development planning and management. As one of the projects approved for enhanced climate resilience under the SPCR, the Coastal Climate Resilient Infrastructure Project will improve livelihoods in the rural coastal districts vulnerable to climate variability and change. The project reconstruct the exiting rural roads and markets as climate proofing to develop the lifestyle, economy and to increase mass awareness among the people aim to ensure more security than present. It will also construct cyclone shelters, and improve access to markets to address acute poverty and climatic vulnerability in south-west Bangladesh. The total project cost is estimated to be about US$150.0 million. ADB will finance US$20million through ADB’s Special Funds resource (loan), another US$20 million through the ADB Strategic Climate Fund (loan) and a US$10 million grant. IFAD will provide a loan of around US$39 million plus a US$1 million grant. The Government of Bangladesh will contribute US$31.2 million. KfW will provide a grant of US$8.8 million.
