The Embassy has signed a corporate Agreement with the Ethio-Istanbul General Hospital today, 20 August 2026. This is expected to offer yet another competetitive option for memebers of the Bangladeshi community (upon enlistment) based in Addis Ababa to avail international-standard healthcare services at prioritised catered rates.

Ambassador Air Vice Marshal Sitwat Nayeem has presented his Letter of Credence to H.E. Mr. Claver Gatete, Under-Secretary-General and Executive Secretary of United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), as the Permanent Representative of Bangladesh to UNECA, on 19 August 2026.

During discussion with the Executive Secretary, the Ambassador reiterated Bangladesh's strong commitment in spearheading effective South-South socio-economic cooperation in a multifaceted way and in collaboration with the UNECA.

Ambassador Air Vice Marshal Sitwat Nayeem has presented his Letter of Credence to His Excellency General Salva Kiir Mayardit, Hon'ble President of the Republic of South Sudan on 17 August 2026 at the Office of the President - Republic of South Sudan, as Ambassador of Bangladesh to South Sudan with residence in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Post to the ceremony of presentation, the Hon'ble President of South Sudan held a brief yet cordial audience for the Ambassador of Bangladesh. The President expressed his pleasure about the Bangladeshi entrepreneurs contribution to his country's continued advancement and assured that the Ambassador was always welcome to his esteemed office.

Mrs. Jobaida Khanam, spouse of the Ambassador and Counsellor (Political) of the Embassy had accompanied the Ambassador during the event.

H.E. Air Vice Marshal Sitwat Nayeem, non-resident Ambassador of Bangladesh to the Republic of South Sudan has met and interacted with Bangladeshi entrepreneurs, professionals and expatriates living in South Sudan, during his visit to Juba on 14-17 August 2026.

The Ambassador was highly impressed by the market leading and market making position of Bangladeshi businesses in the internet, ICT, and tailoring/RMG sector of South Sudan. While visiting successful and long-running Bangladeshi business houses therein on 15 August 2026, he encouraged and inspired their owners/entrepreneurs to keep up the good work and in expanding their own brands and the all over Africa.

During this time, the Ambassador also attended an interactive session with the Bangladeshi community on 16 August 2026. During the discourse, Ambassador keenly listened and responded to the issues, queries and suggestions raised and proposed by members of community present there. He particularly assured the Bangladeshi expatriates on streamlined consular services and robust support from the Embassy's side.

The Embassy has observed with solemn dignity and reflectiveness,, the 'July Mass Uprising Day 2026' on 6 August 2026 at the Embassy premises.

During the event, Ambassador Air Vice Marshal Sitwat Nayeem reflected, alongside other officers and members of the Embassy, on the spirit and power of the day. The Ambassador underscored once again that ordinary people takes up extraordinary responsibilties and voices selflessly for the mass when pushed/undermined/ by unruly powers. He surmised that in the end its the greater good that should and would prevail.

The reflective session came to close with prayers for the departed souls and also peace and tranquility for those living beholden to the memories of their lost and dearest ones.

The Embassy and Permanent Mission of Bangladesh has observed the 'July Martyrs' Day 2026' with due respect and solemnity at the Embassy premises. During the event, Ambassador Air Vice Marshal Sitwat Nayeem underscored and re-emphasized that the true power, whatever/wherever it might be, lies with the people and their aspirations. He urged everyone in the Embassy to work towards emboldening the power consolidated in the new birth of Bangladesh, through attending to respective responsibilities with utmost sincerity while upholding the 'spirit of July' alive at all times.

The program came to a close with a joint prayer for peace and tranquility of the July Martyrs' departed souls.
