BARLEKHA POUROSHOVA-"WE ARE COMMITTED TO SERVE THE PEOPLE". A grade "B" Municipality in Bangladesh,under Moulvibazar district.

Barlekha Pouroshova(Municipality) founded in 2000 by Sheikh Hasina,The Honorable Prime Minister of Bangladesh.Before than, it was an Union Council under Barlekha Upozela,District:Moulvibazar,Bangladesh.The Member of the Parliement Mr Shahab Uddin thought about the growing population of the town and decided to turn it as a Pouroshova.He was the Chairman of that Union Council for three times too.

He then, demanded to the Prime Minister.She(PM) came to Barlekha in Feb 28th, 2000 and announced the surrounding town area as a Pouroshova.After,it became a grade "B' Pouroshova while Late Mr Abdul Malik was the first (Elected) Chairman/Mayor.Now it is passing the second term.This Porishod(Council) is committed to achieve the grade"A".
