With an area of 758.06 sq km, Jhalokati is bounded by Barisal district to the north and east, Barguna district and the Bishkhali river tn the south, and Pirojpur district to the west. Main rivers in this district are Bishkhali, Sugandha, Dhansiri, Gabkhan, Jangalia and Basanda. Administration: Jhalokati subdivision was established in 1972 and was turned into a district in 1984.
