Our members have been kept on their feet the past few days supplying crews for hazard reduction (HR) burns, while also maintaining a local prescence to respond to Triple Zero calls when required. We've been a bit busier than usual, especially with many nearby brigades committed to important HR burns, but our members have risen to the challenge - attending 10 incidents and supporting at two hazard reduction burns in a span of 32 hours.
Sunday 12/04:
Hazard Reduction burn at Kurrajong Heights - Two of our members crewed Upper Colo's ultra-light tanker to assist with patrolling the fire.
Hazard Reduction burn at Lower Portland - After patrolling for a few hours, our crew was diverted to assist with another hazard reduction closer to home.
MVA (Motor Vehicle Accident) at East Kurrajong - Called off en route as other crews were in the area close by the incident.
Backyard fire at Wilberforce - Rubbish being burnt off was located and extinguished.
MVA persons trapped at Freemans Reach - Our crew assisted NSW SES, Police and Ambulance by providing fire protection while they worked to free the trapped driver.
Bush and grass fire in Windsor - Our heavy tanker responded from station and arrived to find a fire burning under the Fitzroy Bridge in Windsor. Two fires were found and extinguished with the help of additional crews from 081 Windsor, Ebenezer, Hawkesbury HQ and 082 Richmond.
MVA fluid on road in South Windsor - While packing up from the fire, our truck was requested to assist Hawkesbury HQ with an MVA. We were called off en route due to the incident being resolved sooner than expected.
Pile burn in Freemans Reach - Our crew attended and extinguished an oversized pile burn.
Bush fire in Cattai - Our volunteers assisted Hillside and Oakville brigades in extinguishing an escaped pile burn.
HR in Lower Portland - Simultaneously, a relief crew of two of our members were out patrolling for any hotspots at the earlier hazard reduction until late in the evening.
Monday 13/04:
Alarm operating in Wilberforce - Our brigade attended a fire alarm at a local business in the early hours of Monday morning, no fire was found after an extensive search.
Grass fire in South Windsor - A crew on our heavy tanker arrived just after 082 Richmond and assisted them in extinguishing an escaped pile burn.
Bush fire in East Kurrajong - Our heavy tanker and pumper responded to an escaped pile burn that had gone down a steep escarpment, alongside East Kurrajong and Glossodia brigades.
