Just because something is hard, it doesn’t mean you can’t do it!
Before every major, positive, life-changing decision I’ve made, there have been people telling me I couldn’t do it.
Interestingly, many of them were older men who had already achieved the very things I was venturing into. Often, their discouraging remarks emerged as soon as I shared my plans & had started the process successfully.
Whether it was starting my Bachelor’s, mortgaging my first property & conceiving my first child at 22yo, becoming a landlord, & starting a business, they continued to emphasise the difficulties & question my capacity.
Yes, there was uncertainty, as with every change in life. But I knew I was resourceful, resilient & capable of overcoming whatever came my way.
There were difficulties, setbacks and moments where I wondered whether I would reach the mark or lose a lot in the process.
But difficult doesn’t mean impossible!
When other people’s opinions set you back from pursuing your hopes & dreams, remember that their assessment of what you can achieve is often based on their biases & perception of you, & not your actual capabilities.
When you're facing a major change, the path ahead can feel uncertain. You don't need to have the entire path mapped out before you begin.
Focus on one step & day at a time, adapting when necessary, & overtime you may surprise yourself with what you achieve.
