My Story.

I am an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker (MAASW), Play Therapist and Mother to three young children. I have worked for 17 years in field of child protection and trauma in government and non-government agencies and NSW Health, conducting forensic risk assessments and ongoing therapeutic work to reduce risk of harm. I work with both victims of abuse/trauma and with perpetrators of abuse. I work within a trauma informed framework bringing a neurobiological approach to supporting the recovery from abuse and trauma.

I work with children and families where the unthinkable has happened where I assesses risk and provide support in the aftermath. I support children and parents to enable them to feel competent in the areas of personal safety, bodily safety and emotional safety.

Through my own parenting, I have found my professional knowledge and expertise allows me to embrace ‘those’ aspects of parenting that are not covered in parenting education, turning them into everyday conversations.

I completed a Bachelor in Social Worker from Trinity College Dublin in 2001 and trained as a Play Therapist in 2006 from the University of Canterbury and Play Therapy International. I maintain an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker (AASW) and a Victim Services Counsellor (tier 2) status annually.
