Penguin Foundation The Penguin Foundation raises funds to protect and preserve Phillip Island's unique flora and fauna, including little penguins. Adopt a penguin today!

The Penguin Foundation raises funds to protect and enhance Phillip Island's natural environment through research, conservation and education programs. Phillip Island supports significant native vegetation communities and wildlife populations as well as international migratory bird species within its woodland, wetland and coastal environments. This remarkable biodiversity and quality of ecosystems means Phillip Island is one of Victoria’s truly special places and we are dedicated to funding the conservation of these important natural values for both current and future generations. Donors can kindly contribute this work through our Giving Programs, including Adopt a Penguin. Support is also provided through grants, sponsorships, partnerships and in-kind support.

Pengi is one well-travelled and well-dressed little fellow. Thanks to our lovely Visitor Experience Officer, Debbie, who let Pengi tag along on her recent travels to the Kimberley region of Western Australia and then on to Broome.

Ahead of the Los Angeles Rams' first-ever NFL game in Australia at the MCG this September, their NFL Cheerleader Squad and famous mascot Rampage paid a visit to the Penguin Parade.

Welcomed by Phillip Island Nature Parks' little penguin mascot, Pip, the team was introduced to one of our most heartwarming conservation initiatives - the Penguin Foundation's Knits for Nature program. They were fascinated by the history behind the famous penguin jumpers and the dedicated volunteers who help bring the project to life.

And yes, Pip can now throw the perfect spiral pass. 🐧🏈

The Penguin Foundation is proud to be a supporter and exhibitor at the 12th International Penguin Conference on Phillip Island (Milawul). We are enjoying making connections with the International penguin community, hearing a vast array of presentations, community programs, and workshops focusing on the management and long-term survival of penguins.

What’s a little penguin dad’s life motto? Work hard. Fish harder. Father’s Day is coming up on 6 September. Show dad or another significant person in your life that you care by gifting a symbolic little penguin adoption. They will receive a personalised e-card, little penguin fact sheet and quarterly updates from the Burrow to show the impact of generous donor support. Give a special gift that keeps on giving.

🐧 After a brief moment of indecision, this little penguin remembered where it was heading - back to the ocean!

This winter release back to Summerland Beach was made possible by the successful care from the Phillip Island Nature Parks team at the Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre.

We thank all Penguin Foundation supporters for their generosity which makes beautiful moments like these possible.

To our valued supporters – we have an important update. H5N1 avian influenza has been confirmed in a little penguin on Phillip Island (Milawul). While this is deeply concerning news, Phillip Island Nature Parks has spent several years preparing for the arrival of the disease through monitoring, research and wildlife health planning.

The Victorian State Government has announced the commencement of a targeted little penguin vaccination program on Phillip Island and at St Kilda. Building on earlier research involving little penguins, the program is believed to be one of the largest vaccination programs involving wild birds anywhere in the world.

As a Penguin Foundation supporter, you have been part of the journey that helped make this vital conservation, science-led work possible.

We are now calling on you to join us in making a contribution, big or small, to strengthen our response to avian influenza.

Thank you for your ongoing support, please donate here:

Breeding season is officially here and little penguins across Phillip Island (Milawul) are taking "home improvement" to a whole new level.

Over the next few months, breeding penguin pairs will build their nests, making burrows cosy with vegetation. Talk about the ultimate DIY power couple!

Keep an eye on the burrow cam to catch a glimpse of some penguin eggs 👀
