What does community impact look like?

For BHC, it looks like residents gaining confidence to pursue study, finding support during difficult times, improving their health and wellbeing, and building stronger connections to community.

We're proud to share our 2025-26 Impact Report, showcasing the outcomes achieved through the collective efforts of residents, staff, partners, supporters, donors and funders over the past year.

The report highlights the many ways people and organisations have come together to create opportunity, strengthen resilience and support Queenslanders to thrive. It also highlights the contribution of Elevate Residential, BHC's profit-for-purpose real estate agency, which directs all profits back into BHC to support the Impact Fund and the delivery of new social and affordable housing.

Thank you to everyone who has contributed to this work. Together, we're creating lasting impact across our communities.

Congratulations to McNab on 30 years of building communities across Queensland.

For three decades, McNab has been delivering projects that make a lasting difference, earning a reputation for quality, innovation and a genuine commitment to creating positive social impact.

At BHC, we are proud of our long-standing partnership with McNab. Together, we have delivered more than 1,000 homes for Queenslanders in need, helping provide safe, affordable and secure housing for individuals and families across our state.

The impact of these homes extends far beyond bricks and mortar. They provide the foundation for people to build stable lives, access opportunities, and thrive within connected communities.

Thank you to the McNab team for your collaboration, shared values and commitment to creating outcomes that matter. We look forward to continuing to work together to address Queensland's housing challenges and deliver even more homes and opportunities for those who need them most.

Congratulations on this significant milestone and here's to continuing to work together to make a difference.

Great coffee, good food and even better conversations!

Last week, residents at one of our properties came together with the BHC team for a community BBQ and Coffee Connections event, enjoying free barista-made coffees from Brad at Substation33's solar-powered coffee cart.

Coffee connections creates welcoming opportunities for connection, wellbeing and inclusion, bringing residents together over a free coffee and a friendly chat right where they live.

We're proud to continue delivering this program thanks to the support of the Lord Mayor's Charitable Trust, helping create stronger, more connected communities.

After nearly two decades of leadership, Chief Executive Officer, Rebecca Oelkers, is stepping down from BHC.

Rebecca’s contribution to BHC has been both significant and deeply felt. Over 19 years, she has led a period of sustained growth and impact - transforming BHC into one of Queensland’s leading community housing providers and expanding the supply of social and affordable housing for those who need it most.

But her legacy is not only measured in the homes delivered. Rebecca has shaped a values-driven, high-performing organisation, building a team united by purpose and a genuine commitment to residents. She is widely respected, and greatly valued, for her authentic leadership, and for the care and trust she has consistently shown for her people.

Her leadership has also helped redefine what is possible in community housing, championing new investment models and establishing initiatives such as Elevate Residential and the BHC Impact Fund to support stronger, long-term outcomes for residents.

Rebecca’s impact on BHC, our residents and the broader housing sector will be enduring, and she will be deeply missed.

💛 "Home for me means a feeling of peace." - Julie, BHC resident

Ethel Residences is more than a place to live. It is a community where people have found connection, stability and a place to call home.

Completed in 2025, this project was the first to be delivered by the BHC-QIC Consortium with institutional investment from Australia Retirement Trust, support from the Queensland Government, and financing from Housing Australia.

Recently recognised with the inaugural UDIA Queensland Made for People: Enriching Communities Award, Ethel Residences is an example of how safe, secure and affordable housing can crate lasting community impact.

In this video, residents and staff reflect on the journey of Ethel Residences and the impact that safe, secure and affordable housing has had on the lives of those who call it home.

Thank you to everyone who generously shared their experiences and helped share this story. 🎥 Watch the video below.

Every property sold, leased or managed through Elevate Residential helps create something bigger than a great real estate outcome.

As a profit-for-purpose real estate agency, Elevate returns its profits to BHC to support housing and community initiatives that help Queenslanders thrive.

Their new video shares their story, the purpose that drives them, and the impact we're creating together.

Last week, members of the BHC team attended the GCHN Inc Gold Coast Connect2Home event, connecting with local community and support services as we prepare for our first Gold Coast development, currently under construction in Southport.

This event was a valuable opportunity to introduce BHC to local organisations and share information about our housing pathways.

The Southport development will deliver 158 social and affordable homes, offering low-income essential workers and households on the State’s social housing register to access to stable, long-term affordable rental housing.

Delivered through the BHC-QIC Consortium, the project is supported by funding from the Queensland Government, institutional investment from Australian Retirement Trust and financing from Housing Australia.

We’re excited to work alongside local services as we expand into the Gold Coast and help create more housing opportunities for Queenslanders.
