We were pleased to welcome the Federal Treasurer, Hon Dr Jim Chalmers MP, and Renee Coffey MP, Federal Member for Griffith, to our Stones Corner development.

The visit provided an opportunity to showcase how BHC is delivering high-quality social and affordable housing, and to discuss the critical role projects like this play in increasing housing supply and supporting well-connected, inclusive communities. During the visit, the Treasurer and Ms Coffey also met with one of our housing residents, gaining firsthand insight into her experience settling into her new home.

The delivery of these homes has been made possible through the BHC – QIC Consortium, with funding support from the Queensland Government, institutional investment from Australian Retirement Trust, and financing from Housing Australia.

“A great idea that helped ease people’s thoughts with the information provided.” – BHC resident.

We recently hosted Cuppa with a Coppa at one of our properties, bringing residents together with local Queensland Police Service representatives for a relaxed and friendly chat.

With barista-made coffee from the Coffee Connection solar-powered trailer through Substation33, it was great opportunity to connect, ask questions and build positive relationships.

🌅🚶For the 7th year, the BHC team will be stepping up for Challenge DV's this Friday.

This is an event that continues to hold deep meaning for us. Each year, we come together to walk or run in support for those impacted by domestic and family violence, and stand alongside a community committed to change.

In Australia, an average of 110 lives are lost each year to domestic and family violence, and the 110km run is a powerful tribute, with each kilometre representing a life taken too soon.

Volunteering is about being there when it matters 💙

As part of National Volunteer Week (18–24 May), we’re also proud to share James’ story - a BHC resident whose long‑standing commitment to volunteering has supported many people through some of life’s most challenging moments.

Through chaplaincy work and simply being present to listen, James’ approach to volunteering is grounded in empathy, trust and connection.

Today, James continues to quietly make a difference by being exactly what people need in that moment: a steady presence, a listening ear, and reassurance that they don’t have to face things alone.
