🛡️ AIR7000 – RAAF Base Tindal, Northern Territory
EndFire Engineering Pty Ltd has successfully delivered the complete fire protection and detection package for the Triton Maintenance Hangar facilities at RAAF Base Tindal, in collaboration with our client Sitzler, as part of the AIR7000 Phase 1B program.
This project forms part of a significant investment in Australia’s northern defence capability, supporting the MQ-4C Triton remotely piloted aircraft system and associated mission-critical aviation infrastructure.
Aircraft hangar environments present highly specialised fire protection challenges, requiring systems capable of responding to aviation fuel hazards, high-value assets, electrical infrastructure, and lithium-ion risks with absolute reliability and precision.
Endfire’s scope involved the design, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of a fully integrated fire protection and detection solution, incorporating:
🔸 Diesel-driven multi-pump fire water systems delivering up to 29,000 litres per minute, with duty and standby configuration for full operational redundancy
🔸Fire water storage tanks, civil infrastructure, and large-bore pipework networks supporting site-wide fire water distribution
🔸Low expansion pop-up SFFF foam suppression systems with FireDos GmbHs proportioning units calibrated to a precise 3 percent concentrate ratio for aviation fuel fire scenarios
🔸ESFR and high-hazard sprinkler systems providing high-performance coverage across hangar environments
🔸Advanced detection systems including hydrocarbon, flame, and lithium-ion detection technologies for early hazard identification
🔸Fully integrated fire indicator panels, Building Management System interfaces, and base-wide monitoring systems enabling real-time operational visibility
All systems were delivered within a live Defence construction environment, requiring complex multi-trade coordination, strict compliance, and disciplined ex*****on across all stages of works.
In response to revised operational requirements, the project was accelerated to achieve completion ahead of program, with installation, testing and commissioning delivered under significant schedule pressure while maintaining quality and safety outcomes.
All fire protection systems passed testing and commissioning on first attempt, confirming the integrity of design, coordination and installation.
The completed systems now provide a fully integrated, high-reliability solution supporting the safe and continuous operation of a nationally significant Defence asset.
This project represents another successful delivery by Endfire, demonstrating our capability to execute complex, integrated fire protection and detection systems within Defence environments.
