Be prepared for the upcoming fire danger season! The date has been brought forward to 1st November here in the Muuraylands.

The 2025/26 Fire Danger Season will begin soon across several of South Australia’s Fire Ban Districts.

These districts will start on the same dates as last year, reflecting rainfall deficiencies and reduced soil moisture levels.

We are urging all South Australians to take the threat of bushfire seriously by preparing their properties now and reviewing their Bushfire Survival Plans.

Dates for the remaining Fire Ban Districts will be announced in the coming weeks following further local consultation.

A total fire ban has been declared here for tomorrow with hot and unpredictable weather. Stay safe people and don't take any risks!

TOTAL FIRE BANS have been declared for 08 December 2023 in the following Fire Ban Districts:

Northeast Pastoral - Extreme
West Coast - Extreme
Eastern Eyre Peninsula - Catastrophic
Flinders - Catastrophic
Mid North - Catastrophic
Mount Lofty Ranges - Extreme
Yorke Peninsula - Catastrophic
Riverland - Catastrophic
Murraylands - Extreme
Upper South East - Extreme

Where Total Fire Bans have been declared, very hazardous fire weather conditions are predicted.

The Total Fire Ban will apply for 24 hours from midnight tonight to midnight tomorrow.

The CFS recommends that you implement your Bushfire Survival Plan.

FIRE DANGER RATING

Where fire ban districts have a forecast fire danger rating of Catastrophic, well prepared, well constructed and defended homes may not be safe during a fire. To ensure your survival you should leave tonight or early tomorrow morning.

Where fire ban districts have a forecast fire danger rating of Extreme, only well prepared, well constructed and actively defended houses are likely to offer safety during a fire.

If you don't have a plan to ensure your survival, leaving early before a fire starts is your safest option.

In making your plan, you should be aware that in high fire danger conditions, essential services including mains-fed electricity and water supply may not be available due to the prevailing weather conditions.

Landowners are asked to adhere to local harvest codes of practice which are available from your local council.

Landowners are also asked to ensure that any burn-off activities conducted today are fully extinguished before midnight tonight.

Agencies are advised to activate their Total Fire Ban procedures in preparation for these predicted fire weather conditions.

Don't take unnecessary risks!
Think:
Do I need to be out in the paddock in my ute today?
Do I really need to finish harvest today even though I'm comfortable in my air conditioned header?
Do I really need to fix that thing with my angle grinder?
Do I really need to be out checking my bees and lighting my smoker?
Do I want to ruin my local CFS volunteer's day by sweating in their overalls busting their guts to fix my !@ #$ up and to save my property and livelihood?
