We are proud of our Vegan Action Melbourne crew for running the NARD event in Melbourne today.

Carl delivered a very strong speech which gave no mixed messages to the Tens of THOUSANDS of silent quiet vegans in Australia… your voice is NEEDED.

Your silence makes those who are active, need to speak even louder in your absence.

Unshakeable Character:

In this podcast, organisers and members from Vegan Action Brisbane, Vegan Action Melbourne and Vegan Action Sydney come together for a deep discussion on unshakeable integrity, character and morality in modern society.

We explored the idea that veganism is more than a diet — it is a moral baseline from which genuine integrity and strong character can be built.

Throughout outreach, we constantly hear people say they are against animal cruelty, yet moments later begin defending it with excuses such as:
• “God said we could.”
• “It’s the food chain.”
• “Animals are here for us.”
• “Humans have always done it.”

This podcast examines the disconnect between the values people claim to hold and the actions they continue to support.

We discuss:
• Integrity and moral consistency
• Seeing morality through the eyes of the victim
• Why society normalises violence against animals
• Relationships, dating and shared values
• The challenge of being vegan in non-vegan relationships
• The importance of standing firm in your values without losing compassion
• Different forms of activism beyond street outreach
• Why unshakeable integrity leads to stronger relationships, careers, businesses and purpose

We also discuss an important reality:
Many vegans are already in relationships when they awaken to these issues. Integrity is not abandoning people the moment life becomes difficult. Sometimes the strongest thing we can do is lead through consistency, compassion and conviction — because when people see how deeply we mean it, they are often the ones who begin to change.

This is a conversation about truth, character, courage and what it means to live in alignment with your values in a world built on contradiction.

This outreach conversation quickly became about removing the polite masks people wear and the lies they tell.

A middle-aged couple stopped to watch footage from the animal industries — footage showing the fear, suffering and desperation animals experience in slaughterhouses and farms.

The woman claimed she was against animal cruelty, yet admitted she kills animals.

The man denied what the animals were experiencing was cruel at all, minimising their suffering.

As the conversation continued, the contradictions became impossible to ignore.

Excuses emerged:
“But God said we could do what we want to animals.”
“But if we stopped eating farm animals they would overbreed.”

This video explores the masks people wear — the identities we build around being “good people” while supporting systems built on violence and exploitation.

It shows how deeply society has normalised cruelty, how quickly suffering is dismissed when it inconveniences us, and how uncomfortable people become when they are asked to align their actions with their stated values.

At some point, honesty matters more than politeness.

Because if we continue lying to ourselves about victims we do not need to harm, nothing changes.

And when somebody’s mask really falls, move on, knowing you spoke up for those they harm and exploit for their pleasure.
