There’s two kinds of mates… 😂

We followed this GIANT tarantula underground into a cave system in Far North Queensland… and safe to say, one of us was handling it better than the other. 😂🕷️

Unfortunately, this rescue took a turn for the worse.

After giving this diamond python every chance to recover, his condition continued to decline and the difficult decision was made to have him euthanised.

We returned him back to the bush where he belonged.
Not every wildlife rescue gets the ending we hope for, but every animal deserves a chance.

This little brushtail possum found itself in serious trouble after becoming completely tangled in a backyard soccer net.

After carefully cutting it free, I kept it warm, quiet and safe before it was picked up by an experienced possum carer to recover.

About a week later, I got the message I’d been hoping for, it was ready to come home.

Loose soccer nets, fruit-tree netting and other mesh can become dangerous traps for wildlife, particularly at night. If you’re not using a net, consider taking it down or securing it tightly so animals can’t become tangled.

Sometimes something as simple as packing away a soccer net can save a life!

What’s the weirdest thing you’ve found on a job? 😂

I got called out for a red-bellied black snake that had apparently made its way into a backyard pond.

After emptying the pond, we spotted what the homeowner thought was the snake…
Turns out it was an EEL!

No idea how this fella ended up in there, but I took him down to the closest dam and released him.

But seriously… does anyone know how an eel would even end up in there? 🤔

Why are people so crap?
It takes two seconds out of your day to stop your car and move a turtle off the road.
Two seconds!

And for that tiny inconvenience, you could literally save a life.
What could possibly be more important?

Just to clarify, I could see the oncoming cars from around 200–300 metres up the road. I wasn’t standing beside the turtle watching people drive over it. As soon as I got to the turtle, I pulled over, jumped out and moved it off the road.

We need to do better.
A tiny part of your day could mean the rest of an animals life.
With Spring just around the corner this video is more important than ever!

I was just trying to help... and this is how he thanked me.

I spotted this pink-tongue skink making its way across the road, with traffic being one problem and a very interested dog barking on the other side.

So I gave him a quick lift off the road and sent him on his way in the safer direction.

While I had him, I couldn't resist showing off this awesome Aussie reptile.

Pink-tongue skinks are semi-arboreal and have a semi prehensile tail that helps them grip while climbing.
They're also specialised feeders, with snails and slugs making up a big part of their diet.

I didn't want to keep him any longer than necessary or stress him out...
Apparently he agreed.

One quick chomp later, and it was time to send this little legend back to freedom!

Rain, hail or shine, we will always be there for our wildlife!

We received a call about this little black cormorant that had been trapped out on the water for hours. After trudging through the bush in the dark and rain, we finally found him, completely tangled in discarded fishing line.

The line had wrapped around his leg and wing, leaving him tethered to a branch and unable to escape. There was already some redness and swelling around his wing, so we carefully brought the entire branch in and slowly cut away the line until he was finally free.

Once all the fishing line was removed, we got him safely into a rescue box and transported him to one of our amazing avian carers in the Hawkesbury.

Thankfully, this little fella went on to make a full recovery!

Caught this red-bellied black snake at the perfect time!

While searching for snakes on the Cumberland Plain, we spotted this big fella out basking and immediately noticed he looked a little different.

He was deep in shed. Completely opaque eyes, almost no colour underneath and looking very ghostly compared to the usual glossy black and vibrant red.

Even cooler, I’ve seen this exact snake before, and he seems to return to this spot when it’s time to shed.

We didn’t want to disturb him for too long, so after a quick look we sent him back under his shelter to finish what he was doing.

Hopefully next time we see him he’ll be sporting a fresh new set of scales! 🐍

Meet Poe 🦜
After being blown from his nest as a tiny 104g ball of fluff, Poe came into care needing to be hand-fed.

Watching him grow, learn to fly and eventually join the local lorikeets was pretty special.

He still came back to visit after release, but eventually chose life with his flock, exactly where he belongs. ❤️

This is why I love wildlife rescue.
