NSW Reconstruction Authority

NSW Reconstruction Authority The NSW Reconstruction Authority is committed to helping communities become stronger, safer and more resilient to disasters.

We drive and support community centred recovery and help lead the change required to reduce the impact of disasters. The NSW Reconstruction Authority (RA) social media channels are managed by the RA. RA social media is used to share NSW Government information and services, with a goal to provide a channel for enquiries from the NSW public. Weโ€™re also here to help you find the information that you

need. We value comments and look forward to hearing your opinions, but it is important these contributions are relevant and do not disrupt others in the online community.โ€‹ As a public service agency, weโ€™re apolitical and unable to respond to political commentary. RA engages with NSW residents in the public domain in accordance with the terms and conditions of the hosting social media platform. When engaging on RA social media channels (posting, direct messaging, commenting or sharing) we may hide or delete posts that moderators consider to be against our community guidelines, which you can find on our website here: https://www.nsw.gov.au/departments-and-agencies/nsw-reconstruction-authority/about-us/reconstruction-authority-community-guidelines

This is your chance to share local knowledge, mark your property and identify key features across the landscape. With a simulated flood overlay, weโ€™ll explore how future events could impact the region and what we can do, together, to prepare.

Itโ€™s interactive, practical and grounded in local knowledge, because strengthening community readiness starts with understanding our shared environment.

๐ŸกBuilding resilience in the Northern Rivers and Central West

We're hosting a range of opportunities throughout June and July for homeowners and builders who are looking to take the next steps in their Resilient Home Program (RHP) journey.

Information Sessions
The first Information Session in this series kicked off last week in Lismore with over 80 people attending. Thanks to everyone who attended โ€“ it was a pleasure to help more people get works underway.

Information sessions support homeowners with Resilient Measures grants and people who are relocating buyback homes. This is a great opportunity to drop by, hear presentations about relocating, resilient works and the Managing Consulting role. You can also talk to the RA team and council about what you need to get works underway. More information sessions will be held in Broadwater and Murwillumbah.

Industry Connect Events
Industry Connect events focus on connecting homeowners with the right building professionals to start works. Homeowners can meet with the local construction industry, talk through their Home Assessment Report, and explore options for completing their works. This first Industry Connect event was held in Forbes last week, with more to come in the Northern Rivers and Central West.

Our team will continue to provide information and support to RHP participants at community pop-ups at Murwillumbah, Mullumbimby and Woodburn.

NSW SES has responded to more than 500 incidents as widespread rainfall and thunderstorms impact northern and eastern parts of the state. ๐ŸŒง๏ธ

Flood rescue operators, along with partner emergency service personnel, have completed seven flood rescues across the Central Coast and Mid North Coast. The majority have involved cars that became trapped in floodwater as flash flooding inundated roads quickly.

๐Ÿš˜โ—Steer clear of floodwater. If you come across a flooded road, turn around and find an alternative route.

Heavy rainfall is forecast to continue for parts of the Hunter, Mid North Coast and adjacent districts this afternoon, before easing later today.

๐Ÿ“ฒ Stay across the latest warnings and advice by downloading the Hazards Near Me app and setting up a watch zone for your local area.

This includes changes to how beaches look, as well as changes to how rips and water may behave.

While conditions will mostly return to normal over time, we urge people to remain safe and pay particular attention to the conditions at the beach.
