We wish everyone a happy harmony day - March 21st!

Today, we celebrate inclusiveness, respect and belonging for all of us that call Australia home.

Please see below Statement from the committee members of KAY Leaders on the recent terror attacks in Christchurch.

Let's stand united and stand against racism.

------------------------------------

The Executives and Committee Members of the Korean Australian Young Leaders (KAY Leaders) are deeply saddened by the devastating attack that occurred at Al Noor Mosque and Linwood Mosque in Christchurch, New Zealand, on 15 March 2019, which resulted in the death of at least 50 people with another 50 people wounded.

We stand in solidarity with our Muslim and New Zealander friends during these difficult times. To the families of the victims who have lost their loved ones, we offer our sincerest condolences. To those who were injured, we pray that they find the strength for a speedy and full recovery.

An incident such as this is not just an attack on the Muslim community, but also an assault upon the core values that we as a multicultural society espouse so deeply. As a community which advocates diversity and inclusiveness, we are deeply disturbed by the inflammatory remarks of Senator Fraser Anning which followed. Australia is home to people from all faiths, cultures and backgrounds. The spirit of sharing with those who have crossed the seas is embedded in our very anthem and Senator Anning’s remarks could not be more at odds to the values we uphold so proudly as a harmonious multicultural society.

We urge our Governments and political leaders to guard against any such actions or comments which seek to spark division and hatred between people of different races, cultures and religions. KAY Leaders will continue to stand united with those who believe in cultural, ethnic, religious, gender and other types of diversity for a more inclusive and harmonious Australia.

On 8th of December 2018, KAY Leaders hosted OKF (Overseas Koreans Foundation)'s Future Leaders Conference Reunion event for the previous participants from the Oceania region at the Parliament of NSW.

The Hon. Jodi McKay MP - Member for Strathfield co-hosted the event with KAY Leaders and also participated as a panel during the group discussions along with Charles Cho, General Counsel - NSW Treasury and Clr Dai Le from Fairfield City Council.

Twenty-three former participants with various professional backgrounds from Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Canberra joined at the event. KAY Leader's longtime friend, Clr Dai Le from Fairfield City Council/DAWN gave a keynote speech in the morning session.

The Overseas Korean Foundation(OKF) uses the capabilities of overseas Koreans for national development in line with its globalisation policy. Specifically, OKF carries out efforts to expand educational/cultural exchange that will cultivate the national identity and pride of overseas Koreans. It also works to enhance the relationship between Korea, their native country, and their countries of residence.

OKF hosts the Future Leaders Conference every year in South Korea, inviting hundreds of young leaders with Korean heritage from all over the world.

Belated post but we would like to thank The Hon. Scott Farlow MLC to acknowledge the importance of the KAY Leaders activities by highlighting last year's the Annual Korean-Australian Young Professionals' Symposium Dinner to the floor of the NSW Legislative Council.

This is such a big encouragement to all KAY Leaders and we will continue striving to empower Korean-Australian young people to find a unified voice in the broader Australian community.

We'd like to congratulate Alex YK Lee and Jenny Han who were also acknowledged in the motion by the Hon. Scott Farlow MLC.
