Year 12 Aquatic students have been enjoying fishing sessions on Mondays.

This term, they have even made their own fishing rods.

This week, we headed to Currimundi Lake, where a few of our students had some great success with their catches!

With one more week of fishing to go, we'll see who lands the best fish next week!

Meridan State College Year 11 Legal Studies students had the privilege of welcoming lawyers Isabella Blunt and Aiden Warneke from Travis Schultz & Partners for a special guest presentation today.

Ms Blunt and Ms Warneke provided valuable insights into the legal profession, sharing their experiences working in civil law and offering students a firsthand perspective on careers in the legal sector.

They also provided helpful guidance and practical suggestions for students as they prepare their upcoming civil law assignment.

The presentation reinforced students’ current studies of civil law, helping to bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world legal practice.

Through engaging discussions and authentic examples, students gained a deeper understanding of the legal system, and the important role legal professionals play in advocating for clients and upholding the rule of law.

The session was both informative and inspiring, bringing the law to life and highlighting the diverse opportunities available on the Sunshine Coast within the legal profession.

We are excited to celebrate the third consecutive year of our Year 7 Italian Pizza Incursion at Meridan State College!

This year, we once again welcomed local business Pizza Coppola, who brought an authentic woodfired pizza experience directly to our Year 7 Italian students.

As part of their Italian Food unit, students took part in a hands-on, immersive workshop led by a professional chef.

Throughout the experience, students listened to instructions in Italian, learned traditional pizza-making techniques, and deepened their understanding of Italian food culture and traditions. It was a fantastic culmination of their learning, combining language, culture, and practical skills in a truly engaging way.

Grazie to Pizza Coppola for continuing to inspire our students with such an authentic cultural experience!

🏐 What a fantastic way to finish the SC Secondary Schools Netball Competition 🏐

Last night saw the Semi Finals and Grand Finals take place, and we are incredibly proud of our Meridan teams. Three of our teams made it through to the Semi Finals, with one team progressing all the way to the Grand Final.

A special congratulations to Junior Purple, who finished the season as Grand Final Runners-Up – an outstanding achievement!

We would also like to celebrate Summer Year 9, who was awarded Umpire of the Year for the season. With more than 100 umpires involved and approximately 100 games played each week, this is an incredible accomplishment. Summer’s skill, positive attitude, reliability, and willingness to umpire have made her a deserving recipient of this prestigious award. Congratulations, Summer!

Finally, a huge thank you to all of our Meridan student umpires who dedicated their Monday evenings throughout the season. Your commitment, professionalism, and support of the game are greatly appreciated. A special mention goes to those who stayed until the final whistle each week, often not finishing until after 8:10pm.

Thank you to all our players, coaches, managers, umpires, and families for another wonderful netball season. We are proud of each and every one of you!
