WHALERS WAY NEEDS OUR VOICE
Whalers Way is not an isolated stretch of coastline.
It is part of the living coastal landscape that surrounds and connects with Fishery Bay — a place we have worked so hard to honour, protect and care for through Fishery Bay Surfing Reserve.
As Chair of Fishery Bay Surfing Reserve, I feel deeply connected to what is happening here.
This coastline holds so much — wild nature, incredible biodiversity, surf, culture, community and a deep sense of connection to Country.
We know that healthy Country, healthy ocean and healthy communities are inseparable.
BirdLife Australia has launched a campaign calling on the South Australian Government to stand by the Native Vegetation Council decision to protect Whalers Way.
Please take a moment to read the campaign and, if it aligns with your own values, add your voice.
Then please share it with your friends, family, surfing community and networks.
Every voice matters when we are standing for places that cannot speak for themselves.
I’m deeply grateful to everyone who continues to show up for Whalers Way, Fishery Bay and the wider Eyre Peninsula coast.
From our little corner of the Eyre Peninsula to the wider surfing and ocean community — we are connected.
With sincere gratitude,
Ngahuia Trewartha
Chair
Fishery Bay Surfing Reserve
