This photo is from an unused postcard showing a gathering of men dining in the bush in the North East. It is from my grandmother who lived at Branxholm. I would be interested if any one may be able to provide any details about this event.

This picture is of Branxholm school group Circa 1899. It includes my grandmother, Hypatia Montgomery (Kincade) - Fifth child from left, second row down.
Note the Chinese children, believed to be from the Ah Moy family.
This photo was badly damaged but I have recently restored it using AI.

"Does this young man look familiar?
His name is Hedley and he would have been born around 1892 +/- 5 years.
He would have possibly grown up in the Ringarooma/Derby area in north-east
Tasmania.
On the back of the photo he wrote, "To Pearlie, with love from Hedley".
Pearlie Wilcox was my grandmother and she kept this photo all her life and my Mum kept it all her life too ... and I think I might know why.
If he is yours, I would love to chat!!!" Is this a possibility.
Regards.
Wendy

Shout out to all the amazing teachers working on school farms across the state. We'd love to hear what your favourite part of the job is. Let us know in the comments below.

Thanks Libraries Tasmania for another great photo from the archive!

Can you help?

The baton twirlers of Scottsdale High School? As with many of our school photos, we would appreciate your help with names and dates. We would also like to hear any stories about baton twirling at the school :-)

The History Society will be at PlantFest at Springfield this Saturday, inside the church, to answer any local history questions, or just to listen to your memories. If you have any photos or documents that you would like to be stored in the Society's digital archive Roger and Anthony will be there with a scanner. There will be a continuous 92-photo display of some people and places of Springfield through time - it takes about 15 minutes to view the entire set of photos. Stalls open at 9.30am, and the church will open at 10am. There will be lots of plants and other great stalls, all put on by the very hard-working members of the Friends of St Paul's. And, of course, the amazing Jane Edmanson, who has been with the ABC's Gardening Australia for over 30 years, will be the special guest. The day will close at 4pm.
