Over 80 large-scale sculptures along beautiful Currumbin Beach which is transformed into an outdoor sculpture park. Connecting people, art and place, SWELL transforms public spaces into family-friendly outdoor sculpture galleries!

The annual SWELL Sculpture Festival is celebrating its 24th year as a free and all-inclusive 10-day outdoor sculpture exhibition by the people for the people. A celebration of narratives and stories spoken through the artworks produced by local, national and international artists.

This September you are invited to immerse at your own level and pace with the sculptures set amongst the natural landscape. Delve deeper into the unique artistic elements programmed each year by attending artist talks, guided walks, sculptural workshops and masterclasses.

SWELL connects with younger artists through the SWELL Kids Elements program.

SWELL Fringe Festival includes morning beach meditations, to live music, DJs, workshops, artist panels and more - there's always something happening. Visit Pop-Up Exhibitions that complete the SWELL compass.

Engagement in Learning!
During our Book Week Celebrations, 120 students came through our Painting Book Week Station.
I offered 26 well known story book characters. Students chose their favourite and then they painted the setting that character would be found in.
We had so much fun and the students produced some very creative artworks!

~Science in Action~
Congratulations to Ruby, Joanna and Nathan (6H), Stephanie, Shuan and Kyan (5/6L), and Patrick, Valerie and Yuvraj (6J) for their fantastic work leading Science Week activities with our Prep to Year 2 classes.

This was a wonderful extension opportunity for our senior students, challenging them to deepen their scientific understanding, communicate their thinking clearly and take responsibility for leading learning beyond their own classrooms. Just as importantly, our younger students had the chance to experience science through engaging, hands-on activities led by older students they could look up to.

It was fantastic to see curiosity being shared across our school, with our senior scientists not only extending their own learning but helping to inspire the next generation of young scientists.

Casting call applications are now available for students who will be in Year 5 and 6 next year to participate in our 2027 school musical ‘Disney’s Aladdin JR.’

Based on the 1992 Academy-Award®-winning film and the 2014 hit Broadway show about the “diamond in the rough” street rat who learns that his true worth lies deep within. Discover "A Whole New World" with this magically updated version of the Academy Award-winning Disney classic!

Students who wish to participate as either cast or tech crew will need to complete and return the casting call form (separate from the earlier expression of interest form) to their classroom teacher by Friday 18th September. Auditions will take place in Week 2 and 3 of Term 4.

Engagement in Learning!

1S has been working hard on their Animal Information Texts. This week students learnt about different animals Diet and Habitat. Students enjoyed having Larry the Lion, Gerald the Giraffe and Marvin the Monkey in their class to help explain the difference between Carnivores, Herbivores and Omnivores.
