PSPC Week 8 Highlights & Happenings
As we move into Week 8, we take a moment to celebrate the many opportunities, achievements and events taking place across our school community.
๐Ÿฅพ Best wishes to our Kokoda Challenge teams as they prepare for the Brisbane Kokoda Challenge on Saturday 13 June. After months of training, fundraising and preparation, our students and team leaders have demonstrated the Kokoda values of Courage, Endurance, Mateship and Sacrifice. We also extend our sincere thanks to our 2026 Kokoda Challenge sponsors โ€“ PSPC P&C, Camp Australia and Dreamworld Night Markets โ€“ for their generous support of this wonderful opportunity for our students.
๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ Best wishes to all PSPC students competing in Pacific District Zone Sports next week. We are incredibly proud of the commitment, determination and sportsmanship shown throughout training and school carnivals and wish our students every success as they represent PSPC.
๐ŸšŒ Excursion and Incursion Update โ€“ To assist families, we have published a handy excursion and incursion ready-reference guide outlining upcoming activities and important consent and payment due dates. We encourage families to keep an eye on these dates to ensure students can participate in these valuable learning experiences.
๐ŸŒด Happy Queensland Day! Queensland Day celebrates the people, places and communities that make our state such a special place to live, learn and belong. At PSPC, we are proud to be part of a state known for its resilience, diversity, natural beauty and strong community spirit.
๐Ÿ–ค๐Ÿ’›โค๏ธ NAIDOC Showcase 2026 โ€“ While National NAIDOC Week takes place during the July school holidays, schools across the South East Region come together earlier to celebrate culture, learning and community through the annual NAIDOC Showcase. PSPC is proud to have student work featured as part of this year's showcase at Beenleigh State High School, celebrating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures and achievements.

This is a picture of the Richmond Birdwing Butterfly. It is the second largest butterfly in Australia and it only eats the Birdwing Butterfly Vine. We are very lucky to have two of these vines in our school . It is the only food the caterpillar eats. Hopefully other schools in the area will plant some as well, to extend their habitat throughout the Gold Coast and in turn increase their vulnerable numbers. A big thankyou to Miss Maxine for making our amazing signage for our existing vines

Our school team is proudly taking part in the Kokoda Challenge and we're reaching out to our wonderful community for support.

Thanks to the generosity of our families, friends, and supporters, we have already raised around $1192 towards our fundraising goal. Our aim is to reach $1,500, and every donation, big or small, will help us get there!

Community support over night was amazing and our teams are thankful to everyone for their support. Two of our teams, have achieved their fundraising goals, however, there's still time to show your support to our other 3 teams. Any amount, big or small would be very appreciated. **** Can you help our Kokoda Challenge teams? ****
We have more than 23 incredible students and team leaders taking on the Brisbane Kokoda Challenge on 13 June. Together, they are training to walk, jog and run 18km across challenging hills and terrain, showing determination, resilience and commitment every step of the way.
We are incredibly proud of their efforts and the positive way they are embracing this challenge.
As part of the event, teams are also raising funds to support the important work of the Kokoda Youth Foundation. If any of our community members, families, local businesses or followers would like to sponsor our students and teams, your support would be greatly appreciated.
Every contribution helps and provides encouragement to our participants as they prepare for this amazing achievement.

PSPC Week 7 Highlights & Happenings
๐ŸŒง๏ธ Wet Month of May
It certainly feels like the rain has barely stopped throughout May. While the weather is something none of us can control, our school community continues to adapt and make the necessary adjustments to keep students safe and learning.
For students, these moments also provide opportunities to build resilience, flexibility and patienceโ€”important life skills that support them well beyond school.
Please continue to monitor email communications regarding updates to the Year 4โ€“6 Sports Day, including arrangements and team selections.
Thank you to our families and community for your understanding and support as we continue to navigate the ongoing wet weather conditions together.

๐Ÿ… P&C Support for Representative Students
We are incredibly proud of the achievements of our students who have been selected to represent School Sport South Coast during 2026.
We acknowledge that representative sport often involves significant costs, including travel and accommodation associated with state carnivals. Thank you to our P&C for continuing to offer support to families of students selected to represent the region at this level.
Families of students who have achieved regional representation are encouraged to contact the P&C regarding possible assistance to support participation in state-level school sport events.
A special congratulations to Zakeri, who has been selected to represent South Coast in AFL. This is a wonderful achievement and recognition of his dedication and talent. We wish him every success in his representative journey.

๐Ÿšธ Crossing Controllers โ€“ Safety and Respect at Drop Off and Pick Up
We are very fortunate to have crossing controllers supporting the safe movement of students across the three roadways surrounding our school before and after school each day.
Their role is critical in helping ensure the safety of our students and families. When we say "Safety First", we genuinely mean that safety must take priority over convenience and time pressures.
We ask all members of our community to continue showing patience, courtesy and respect to our crossing controllers and to one another during busy drop off and pick up times. At times there will be queues, delays and congestion around the school zone; however, the safety of our students must always come first.
Thank you for your ongoing support in helping keep our students safe.

Grateful for fine conditions this morning for our final Kokoda Challenge training session before the big event in just two weeksโ€™ time.

To mix things up, we headed north for a different route, covering 8.5km over 90 minutes. We couldnโ€™t be prouder of this group and the commitment they continue to show.

With just two weeks until the event, the excitement is building. Completing the Kokoda Challenge is a mighty effort, and some of our students are seeking sponsorship to recognise their achievements and support the important work of the Kokoda Youth Foundation charity.

Thank you to our students, team leaders and families for your dedication throughout months of training, and to our generous sponsors โ€” PSPC P&C, Camp Australia and Dreamworld Night Markets โ€” for helping make these opportunities possible for our students.
