PROUD OF OUR POUND ⭐️

A couple of weeks ago I was really pleased to attend the opening of the upgraded City of Armadale animal management facility.

This is a project I’ve strongly supported and advocated for over a number of years, so it’s great to finally see these important improvements completed for both the animals in the City’s care and our Rangers who work there every day. Anyone who knows me personally knows how passionate I am about animals and their welfare! This project has meant so much me ❤️

The upgrades include improved dog and cat housing, safer handling areas, better ventilation and cooling, new dog runs and a range of other improvements to bring the facility up to modern standards. I was particularly pleased to encourage the separate cat housing area and improved air conditioning, helping create a calmer and more comfortable environment for cats while in the City’s care.

A really positive outcome for animal welfare, staff safety and our community. 🐾

What an incredible couple of days taking time to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.

Yesterday, I was honoured to represent the City, and in my role as School Board Chair, at Riva Primary School’s annual ANZAC Day assembly. I was deeply moved by the insightful guest address from Cid Dare, who spoke of the nurses and their sacrifices while serving on many different fronts. She also shared the story of Marion Leane Smith, the only recognised Indigenous Australian nurse of the First World War, who trained in Canada and was a Dharug woman born in Liverpool, New South Wales.

Then this morning, I attended the annual ANZAC Day Dawn Service hosted by the wonderful ladies of the Bedfordale Country Women’s Association at Churchman Brook Community Centre. I was so impressed by the planning and organisation of the many local groups who came together to deliver such a meaningful, respectful and beautifully presented service, followed by breakfast and coffee. The venue was perfect, and the warm community spirit made it truly special.

A special shout out to the Armadale Police Rangers for the catafalque party, and to everyone who contributed to making the morning such a success.

Thank you to President Nicole Friend and the ladies at Bedfordale CWA for having me this morning, and to Mr Chaplin, Principal of Riva Primary School, for welcoming me to your wonderful events.
