Thank you for your vigilance, and also to the callers from the Cable Beach House this morning. Hope you didn't choke on the breakfast spotting the second big fella. All before the patrol had even started.

+++ UPDATE: 11:45am Saturday 29 August +++

The croc has now been captured and removed from the area.
Both Cable Beach and Gantheaume Point Beach have been reopened.
Thanks to Yawaru Rangers and Parks and Wildlife Service Rangers for a successful removal operation.
The croc will be taken to Malcolm Douglas Crocodile Farm on the outskirts of Broome.

⚠️ WARNING - CROCODILE SIGHTING – CABLE BEACH ⚠️

A CONFIRMED 3m estuarine (saltwater) crocodile was sighted today at 8:30am, Saturday 29 August 2026 approximately 2km north of Cable Beach and 100m offshore moving south towards Gantheaume Point.

As a result, the following beaches have been closed:
🚫Gantheaume Point Beach
🚫Cable Beach

Closures will remain in place for at least 24 hours.

Parks and Wildlife Service rangers are patrolling the area.
To assist in the management of crocodiles near Broome, sightings should be reported to 𝗗𝗕𝗖𝗔 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗸𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗪𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗕𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝟵𝟭𝟵𝟱 𝟱𝟱𝟬𝟬.

Your safety is your responsibility, always 𝗕𝗘 𝗖𝗥𝗢𝗖𝗪𝗜𝗦𝗘 in the Kimberley.

A crocodile matching the description of the one sighted this morning has been seen off Gantheaume Point.

As a result, Cable Beach has also been closed.
