Westralia Shall Be Free - #waxit This page is for discussions around the State of Western Australia becoming an independent nation, free of the Federation of Australia.

This page is about the practical considerations on the current State of Western Australia becoming a free and independent nation. We take no view on what WA should be, other than free - seeing this as something that the people of WA can decide for themselves. The people of Western Australia, some of whom were our great-great-great grandparents voted to join the federation in 1900 on certain condit

ions, most of which were immediately ignored. We have been the consistent victims of Federal government policies ever since. Our great-great grandparents voted to leave the federation and this vote was ignored. We have no interest in insulting the rest of the Federation of Australia, conspiracy theories or abuse. Any of these will attract sanctions, up to and including banning.

Well worth a read - if a federal government does not suit the needs of the people then which is more important to work for?

The Founders understood union as a strategic necessity, not a moral imperative.

Signing this petition means precisely nothing. If we are part of Australia we must accept the decision of the High Court - no matter how little we like those decisions. The High Court has used its power time and again to send power and money to Canberra, and we can’t expect this time will be any different.
Of course, that only applies if we are part of Australia.

Is going to get us on our way?

While former foreign minister Julie Bishop and Premier Mark McGowan agreed it would be near impossible, they said locals are fed up with being underappreciated.

When we break away, we should have a Western Australia Day in addition to the regular Australia Day.

Well worth a watch on what is ahead of us.

85 years ago today the people of Western Australia voted strongly to leave the Federation of Australia and become our own country.
The result of that vote was ignored, and we now have even less say on what happens in our own State than we had on that day in 1933.
Do we need to put up with this for another 85 years?

He's correct - now, let's see if his Federal ALP colleagues agree with him. So far, all of them, as well as all of the ALP candidates for the next Federal election, have agreed the current system is good enough.

WA Treasurer Ben Wyatt says it is ludicrous to suggest that an increase in the GST from 34c to 47c is a great win for WA

Says it all.

Says it all.

Today the Commonwealth Grants Commission released the 2018 GST relativities – WA goes from 34 cents to 47 cents; New South Wales from 88 cents to 86 cents; Victoria from 93 cents to 99 cents; Queensland from $1.19 to $1.10; South Australia from $1.44 to $1.48; Tasmania from $1.80 to $1.77; the ACT from $1.19 to $1.18; and the Northern Territory $4.66 to $4.26. Whilst the increase is welcome, this remains an unacceptable outcome for WA.

What are we meant to say - thanks for giving us less than half?

What are we meant to say - thanks for giving us less than half?

: Sky News has obtained a new carve-up of the $65 billion GST revenue to be announced today. WA is to secure 47 cents for every dollar collected. Victoria will also secure a better deal, up 1.6 per cent.
