Tonight Nangwarry CFS had the pleasure of welcoming Wattle Range Council Mayor Des Noll to come and speak to the team, giving words of encouragement and support to the team.

We also said farewell to our Interim Captain Scott and Lieutenant Steph as they embark on the next chapter of their careers, they leave the brigade in the capable hands of Sam Pycroft as Scott’s Successor and we wish them all the very best and thank them for all their hard work, dedication and commitment to the Brigade and the Nangwarry Community.

Nangwarry, the Nangwarry CFS station is open now! We will be open from 4:30pm till 8pm for anyone who wishes to come speak to our team about helping save the Nangwarry Fire Brigade. ☺️☺️☺️

Young people of the CFS! Now is your time, come share in an experience of fellowship, connecting with other youth between 18 and 30 in the CFS! Hurry spots are limited and applications close 17th of April! 🧡🔥

The Emerging Leaders Program (ELP) provides an opportunity for you to develop your leadership, teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills through workshops, practical training, and mentorship from senior CFS leaders, who offer valuable insights into leadership roles within CFS volunteer careers.

The ELP is open to all CFS volunteers aged 18 to 30 who are registered as a firefighter or operational support member within a brigade, whether you have years of experience or are just beginning your journey in the service.

By participating in the Emerging Leaders Program, you will:
✅ Gain valuable leadership skills
✅ Learn from senior leaders and guest speakers
✅ Strengthen your ability to lead teams and coordinate effectively
✅ Network with peers from across the state
✅ Develop confidence in leadership roles within your brigade and community

Nangwarry Community! Sadly the time has come to make an urgent plea!

We’ve politely asked for recruits a few times over the last year, put up ads and have received a great response. However, the response we want is not the response we need.

Did you know only one member of the Nangwarry CFS is actually a Nangwarry local? From Kalangadoo, Mount Gambier, Wandilo and Glencoe, our members proudly serve your community.

However we have been told straight out, if we do not gain members from the local community soon, the brigade may very well be closed permanently and it’s staff reassigned to stations closer to their areas.

If you’re 18 or older, willing to step up and complete a weekend of training and make a difference the time is NOW! Otherwise, the sad reality is, Nangwarry may lose its only Volunteer based Emergency Service Organisation left.

Three years ago today!

On this day, 8th February 2022 crews from Nangwarry CFS and Onefortyone Plantations responded to a suspicious grass fire at Nangwarry.

Crews were able to contain the fire to a small area of grass.

Last night, members of Nangwarry, along with members from Compton, Mil Lel, Naracoorte and other brigades from Region 5 CFS deployed as part of a light strike team to the Little Desert Fire in Victoria. Working on Quick Response Vehicles (QRV) they spent the night assisting partner agencies FRV, CFA and FFMV to combat the fire. Our crews are now home and resting up. ☺️☺️

Additional South Australian communities may be impacted by smoke from the Victorian fires.

Predictions are estimating the smoke spreading from the Victorian & South Australian border will continue moving west across the state and can be expected whilst the fires continues to burn.

However, if you observe any smoke followed by flames or thick smoke plumes, please call Triple Zero (000) immediately.

Smoke can affect your health. You should stay informed and be aware of the health impacts of smoke on yourself and others. Smoke may also impact roads reducing visibility, please take care and drive to the local conditions.
