Philas - The Philatelic Association of NSW

Philas - The Philatelic Association of NSW PHILAS was founded in 1971. In Jan 2026, we relocated to our new home in Pennant Hills, NSW 2120. We currently hold 3 auctions a year.

PHILAS held the first stamp and philatelic auctions in Australia. In 2022 PHILAS became the first Australian Stamp Auctioneers to partner with invaluable.com. the world's largest collectables and fine arts online auction platform. PHILAS represents each of its 50 plus affiliated clubs, to develop the hobby of and professions associated with philately. The PHILAS Library is an important part of PHI

LAS. Starting shortly after we first opened, the Library has grown into one of Australia's leading Philatelic Libraries. With 6000 volumes and catalogues and over 20,000 magazines from around the world, just about everything is covered.

There is many great things about stamp exhibitions, be it seeing great exhibits, meeting new like minded people, renewing old acquaintances, seeing valuable stamps including no less than 4 inverted flying jenny's and a surprise purchase of books that have been long out of print.

Parramatta Philatelic Society Open Day is on Today, 9th May 2026.

Venue: Wentworthville O.E.S. Hall, Railway Street, Wentworthville. (Adjacent to Train Station, plenty off-street parking)

Time: 9.30 am - 4.00 pm.

There are a number of stamp clubs and dealers attending on the day and there are auctions scheduled for 12.00 noon and 2.30 pm.

The Parramatta Open Day has been a significant fundraiser for SASS/CMS over the years through both the sale of CMS auction lots and, more so, through CMS Stockbook sales. Accordingly, and as mentioned in SASS Newsletter No.288 (p.1-3) - 21 March 2026, SASS will be represented at this Open Day and we would like to have as many of the CMS Stockbooks as possible at the event. If you are unable to attend on the day with your books, it would be greatly appreciated if you could arrange to get them to Richard Brown by 6 May.

There are a number of SASS members who have advised they will help manage the CMS Stockbooks table, and we would encourage other members who may be interested in the day's activities to come along.
