Councillor Martin Zaiter - Lord Mayor, City of Parramatta

Councillor Martin Zaiter - Lord Mayor, City of Parramatta It’s an honour to serve you as the Lord Mayor of City of Parramatta. I’m excited to lead our community as it transforms into a global City.

Born and bred in Parramatta, I’m a lifelong Parramatta Eels fan, involved in community issues, married to my beautiful wife and raising three kids. I’m a Chartered Accountant and have run a small business providing tax, audit and accounting services in Parramatta for the past 15 years. I previously served as Councillor for Parramatta Ward from 2017 to 2021 and it’s incredible to see the growth of

our City since then. I want our CBD and every suburb to experience the world of opportunity on offer in the best City in the world. I know the cost of living pressures families are under, so we need to get value for money from the services and projects we deliver across every community in our LGA. That’s why I’ll continue to advocate for the schools, transport, open spaces and social infrastructure our growing population needs. I want the City of Parramatta to be the place where you can go anywhere and have a good time, building on our reputation as a thriving night-time economy. I am keen to hear your ideas, perspectives and what matters to you, so feel free to reach out and get in touch with my office.

It was great to join our wonderful community at the opening of Somerville Park in Eastwood on the weekend.

If you haven’t had the chance to visit just yet, Somerville Park has been transformed with new play, fitness and sports facilities, along with improved paths and accessibility, creating an incredible open space for all members of our community.

The $4.7m Somerville Park Improvements project is proudly funded by the NSW Government’s Western Sydney Infrastructure Grants Program in association with City of Parramatta Council.

Great to visit iCT Group on George Street with Councillor Tanya Raffoul for City of Parramatta and Wally Mehanna from Canterbury Bankstown Chamber of Commerce - CBCC , and hear how they’re keeping local businesses moving with critical cyber security, cloud storage and telecommunication services.

This July, I’m hosting the first Lord Mayor’s Sleepout for Sick Kids. This is a chance for our business and community leaders to come together and make a real difference for seriously ill or injured children.

We are raising money for Ronald McDonald House Greater Western Sydney, because when a child is in hospital, families should be focused on their child getting better.

Join me, share this message, or support with a donation at https://support.ronaldmcdonaldhousegws.org.au/sleepout

The more we raise, the more families we can help stay close when it matters most.

When a child is sick or injured, priorities change in a heartbeat.

Driving through Westmead today, you can’t miss how much it has transformed. It is now one of Australia’s most advanced health and biomedical research hubs, a leading Health and Innovation District shaping the future of medicine.

But behind that progress is a very human reality.

The Children’s Hospital at Westmead is there for families when they need it most.

When a child is sick, time stops. Families may spend weeks, sometimes months by their child’s bedside. Families whose lives are suddenly turned upside down, with hospital corridors becoming part of a daily routine.

In these moments, Ronald McDonald House becomes more than just accommodation. It becomes a place of comfort, dignity and stability.

A home away from home when families need it most.

But when all 60 rooms are full, I’ve heard that it’s not uncommon for parents to sleep in cars, others spending nights in hospital chairs beside their child.

Demand for community support is significant which is why I’m proud to launch the inaugural Lord Mayor’s Sleepout for Sick Kids in support of Ronald McDonald House Greater Western Sydney.

It’s an opportunity for our community to come together, step outside our comfort zone for one night, and stand in solidarity with those families doing it tough every day.

If you’re able to join us on 2 July, I encourage you to join us by registering your interest via: https://support.ronaldmcdonaldhousegws.org.au/sleepout

And if you’re unable to join us on the night, you can still make a difference. A donation helps provide a family with a warm meal, a safe place to stay, and vital support during an incredibly difficult time or share our mission and help us reach those who can.

When a child is sick or injured, priorities change in a heartbeat.

Earlier this year, I had the privilege of visiting Ronald McDonald House Greater Western Sydney, following our community raising more than $11,000 to support the extraordinary work they do for families in crisis.

The is almost here!

On 21 June, our City will come alive as runners pass some of Parramatta’s most iconic landmarks on a course that truly showcases the best of our City.

What started as a homegrown idea has grown into a sold-out event, quickly establishing itself as one of Australia’s must-do races.

Proud to share this Parramatta success story at the Lord Mayors Business Forum as we continue our journey to becoming a global City.

Fantastic to join my fellow Councillors and our Parramatta Ward residents at our Annual Community Ward Workshop this weekend.

Now in its fourth year, these sessions are great way to hear feedback directly from our community which is then used to guide local infrastructure projects and improve how we deliver services at Council.

Thanks for joining us!
