Kelp! Remarkable Cave - Tasman Peninsula Time: Tuesday, 20 January 2026 at 11:01 pm
Photographed during one of the most biblical Aurora Australis events in recent memory in Tasmania.
Once in my lifetime ๐โ๏ธ๐ and so excited!!!
I am not 100% sure, but I believe that I have the only known photos of this phenomenon in this particular spot. The cave floor of a notoriously difficult place to photograph, Remarkable Cave on the Tasman Peninsula. The place is often flooded by the tide and is nearly impossible to get the timing right. โ๏ธ๐
With an Aurora.
Too good to release all the photos at once.
I hope you like my first take.
For those who may wonder about the method of the shooting, I use an iPhone 16 Pro Max mounted on a tripod. I shoot in raw format and a 30-second exposure.
I bring a little LED light to illuminate the foreground and use a remote control shutter to activate the camera without touching it.
