Waverley Liberals

Waverley Liberals Authorised by Malcolm Leithhead, 18/197 Birrell Street Waverley 2024. We are continuing to hold Labor and the Greens in Waverley to account.

Our team includes experienced Councillors who offer expertise, enthusiasm and professionalism. After returning Waverley Council to financial stability in 2008 - 2011 after 20 years of Labor/Green neglect of infrastructure spending, the Waverley Liberal Councillors made significant strides in improving infrastructure and financial sustainability and creating a more livable community from 2012 - 201

A National Day of Mourning for the victims of the Bondi terrorist attack will be held on Thursday, 22 January 2026.
The theme to mark this day is ‘Light will win, a gathering of unity and remembrance’.
There are a number of ways the public can participate:
• You can leave a candle on your doorstep or window as a symbol of remembrance, mourning and solidarity with the Jewish community.
• You are invited to observe one minute of silence to honour those impacted by the Bondi Beach terrorist attack at 7.01pm AEDT.
• Come together, share a meal and spend time with family and friends of all faiths and backgrounds.
• You are encouraged to undertake a Mitzvah for Bondi. A Mitzvah is an act of kindness, compassion, and a moral responsibility. It is about taking practical action to help others, through simple everyday acts of kindness that together create a powerful wave of goodwill. This can be as simple as checking in on a neighbour, volunteering time, offering support to local businesses, or donating to those in need.
The Bondi Pavilion will be lit up in honour and in memory of the 15 beautiful souls taken from us and flags will be flown at half-mast.

Happy Chanukah to our Jewish community. May the light continue to outshine the darkness.

We wish you plenty of festivities filled with delicious food.

Chag Sameach

Wishing our Jewish Community a Happy Chanukah. Chanukah is one of the most joyous celebrations on the Jewish calendar. It represents the triumph of light over darkness – a message that has never been more important.

Waverley Council has invested in three brand new Chanukiah which will be displayed across Waverley - including the one below designed by artist Joel Adler in collaboration with the Jewish Climate Network and displayed on the corner of Blake and Military Roads.

Chag Sameach!

Backpackers have been “strongly discouraged” from attending the bacchanalia this year. Those who attend can expect heightened police and security patrols.
