Our brigade member Georgia is stepping up for a great cause, raising funds for the MSWA Step Up fundraiser supporting Western Australians living with neurological conditions.

Georgia gives so much to our community through volunteering and we’d love to help support her efforts. If you’re able to donate or cheer her on, every bit helps.

Entering into the cooler months and the unrestricted burning period, we’d like to remind you to please stay vigilant if lighting up 🔥
The last two weeks of warm weather have kept fuel dry, combined with a strong breeze this increases the risk of fires escaping 💨

Over the last week NDVBFB has been called to a few burn offs that have gotten a little out of hand 🚒

If burning off, please check the fire danger rating on the day, follow the BurnSMART resource and register with DFES on 9395 9209

📢 Restricted Burning Time Shortened

Restricted Burning Time will conclude at 00.01hrs, Saturday 2 May 2026.

This means that burning restrictions and the requirement to obtain Burning Permits from Shire Bush Fire Control Officers will cease.

We recommend that you remain cautious, ensure that the conditions are safe, and that any precautions are in place prior to burning.

If you have any questions, please contact our Ranger and Emergency Services team on (08) 9531 7777.

A big thank you to the team from Alcoa for volunteering their time this afternoon to support our brigade!

Your help washing out the foam drums and assembling our new storage lockers made a real difference behind the scenes. Many hands make light work and we truly appreciate the support 👏🏻

🔥 UPDATE – BURNING RESTRICTIONS EASING SOON 🔥

Following advice from the Shire of Murray, the Prohibited Burning Time has been shortened, with Restricted Burning Time starting from Saturday.

While this is a positive step, it’s important to remember that conditions are still dry across our area, and fire risk remains.

⚠️ Burning is NOT automatically allowed every day

If the Fire Danger Rating is High or above, or a Total Fire Ban or HVMB is in place — no burning is permitted.

Before lighting any fire:
✔️ Check the daily Fire Danger Rating
✔️ Notify your Permit Issuing Officer
✔️ Obtain a permit when required
✔️ Contact DFES Communications

🔥 Take care when burning — have water on hand, never leave fires unattended, and fully extinguish before leaving.

👨‍🚒 Let’s all do the right thing and keep our community safe as we move into the next phase of the season.

📢 Prohibited Burning Time shortened 📢

Prohibited Burning Time for the Shire of Murray has been shortened and will conclude at 23.59hrs on Friday 10 April 2026.

Restricted Burning Time for the Shire of Murray will now commence 00.00hrs on Saturday, 11 April 2026.

Please note:
⚠️ Burning is prohibited on days where the Fire Danger Rating is high or above, or if a Total Fire Ban (TFB) or Harvest Vehicle Movement Ban (HVMB) is declared.

⚠️ Before any burning, please advise your Permit Issuing Officer and the Department of Fire and Emergency Services' Communication Centre. 👇

🚨 REMINDER – PROHIBITED BURNING SEASON EXTENDED 🚨

The Prohibited Burning Time has been extended, and we’re reminding everyone that no burning is permitted at any time.
While we’ve had a bit of rain recently, it hasn’t been enough to reduce the fire risk. The ground and surrounding bush are still very dry, and with little rain forecast in the coming days, conditions remain high risk.

🔥 It only takes one spark for a fire to start and spread quickly.

Please remember:
🚫 No burning of garden waste or rubbish
🚫 No solid fuel BBQs, pizza ovens or open fires
✔️ Gas and electric BBQs are permitted — use with care

We know it can be tempting after a bit of rain, but the risk is still very real.

👨‍🚒 Help us protect our community, our volunteers, and our properties by doing the right thing.
