ππ» Fantastic -
BUT when are the groups that are out treating going to receive some help??
So many people say
βyou must get paid heaps to do this kind of dirty, labour intensive workβ
π nope!! we get paid ZERO!!
We are all volunteers - we find & make time to get out and help these animals.
βοΈ Why are volunteers not paid???βοΈ
βοΈBecause the work we do is priceless!!!βοΈ
It's and to celebrate, WIRES has announced a range of new initiatives to support this much loved native Australian animal.
Over the last 10 years, calls to the WIRES Rescue Office about wombats have increased four-fold. The fatal combination of habitat loss, spread of disease, vehicle collisions and extreme weather events pose a serious threat to the future of wombats.
WIRES is committed to protecting our wombat species and as part of this commitment, we are proud to announce we will be funding research at the University of Tasmania to develop innovations in the delivery of treatments to wombats with sarcoptic mange.
