Open Drill Night!
We are holding our fortnightly Drill Night on Tuesday 2nd June at Wilson Memorial Park from 6.30pm
If you’ve been thinking about becoming a firefighter or would like to see us in action come along to our open drill.
The B.A Truck is in town and it will be a great opportunity to learn more about how your local Fire and Rescue NSW team protect Murrurundi.

Tomorrow is the first day of winter! Unfortunately this time of year generally means an uptick in house fires. Below are some gentle reminders and tips on ensuring you and your household are prepared and protected as best as possible.

🔥 You can’t smell smoke while you’re asleep
🔥 We teach 0-8yo to get out, stay out, call 000 and they absolutely get it…do you?
🔥 Smoke alarms are cheap! (or free if you contact your local FRNSW station)
🔥 New smoke alarms batteries last 10 years and maintenance free, ALL old ones still require 9v batteries, hard wired ones need a sparky to replace.
🔥 Other more technical smoke alarms are on the market and can be synced to your home assistants (Siri, Alexa etc) - not supplied by FRNSW
🔥 Get a carbon monoxide detector (especially if you have an unflued gas/electric heater or combustion heater
🔥 Clean your dryers lint filter EVERY use!!
🔥 Discuss and practice what to do in the event of a fire with your household
🔥 Consider having an extinguisher and fire blanket in your kitchen
🔥 Test AND clean your smoke detector often. (At least twice a year during daylight savings changeover)
🔥 In the event of a fire, if you have had to evacuate please don’t go back in for anything… YES ANYTHING!!

House fires are devastating, not only for those directly affected but also for the responders who put themselves at risk to do the best they can to save life and property. Do your part by ensuring you have working smoke alarms. Contact your local station if you require a home fire safety check, we are more than happy to help!

As 2025 comes to an end, we take the time to reflect on our year at 390. We appreciate all the ongoing support from the community and look forward to more community engagement in 2026. We wish you, your friends and families all the luck and health in coming year and hope that we can add to our crew.
