Glenn TOZER for Mudgeeraba & Hinterland (Division 9)

Glenn TOZER for Mudgeeraba & Hinterland (Division 9) Serving the southwest hinterland (Div9) at the City of Gold Coast council since 2012. Chair of Lifestyle, Environment, Heritage & Resilience (LEHR) committee.

Election material is auth'd by Glenn Tozer, PO Box 625, Mudgeeraba for Glenn Tozer (candidate) Welcome to the new likers to my page. I hope you find the below helpful as you work out the best way to engage on the page. Most of my posts relate to the Gold Coast, and in particular Division 9 which includes the suburbs of Mudgeeraba, Worongary, Tallai, Bonogin, Reedy Creek, Gilston, Lower Beechmont,

Austinville, Advancetown, Neranwood, Springbrook, Numinbah Valley and Natural Bridge. There's about 30,000 voters in our area and around 43,000 residents. It’s not an official Council-run page, but all activity here is governed under relevant Codes of Conduct and Acts of Parliament. Accordingly, you can expect if you raise a Council issue, I may capture that as a public record and process it through the proper channels. Alternatively, I may refer a person to that themselves. I have a no deletion policy, with only a few exceptions (profanity, lewdness, spamming or leveraging the page for private lobbying, threats of legal/regulatory action, allegations of corruption). Even when we disagree you can expect I'll engage. There's a chance we'll get on fine if you argue with respect and good manners. What I'm trying to achieve here is a community of people who can share amongst their own Facebook families, the events and activities of our great city and the little area I look after. I like to share good news stories, topical issues, and keep people informed about what your elected representatives are doing each week and what's going on in our area. A community like this doesn't work without you engaging so get involved, seek out those stories form the groups you're a part of and post here to keep me and the rest of the community updated. If a post, by my assessment, seems to contravene this intent I might warn a Facebook user and depending how they respond I might choose to refer them to other methods to offer their view (such as email, phone or letters). We've got heaps to be proud of in Division 9 and across the Gold Coast and hopefully this page can be one part of promoting our best efforts to the community and to the world. Please note: we do our best to moderate this page according to standards of best practice recommended by the Office of the Independent Assessor and the LGAQ – www.lgaq.asn.au/socialcommunityguidelines or https://www.oia.qld.gov.au/understanding-complaints

This page supports the Facebook Statement of Rights and Responsibilities and related policies – and requests visitors to this page do the same; https://www.facebook.com/terms.php

Skyridge in Worongary has been sold.

The new owner, Frasers Property, has distributed a press release to announce their purchase for $170million. Relevant excerpts are attached.

Frasers might be known to some of you as it's older incarnation Australand or, even earlier, LJ Ho**er Property Development. You can read about the history of the company here;
https://www.frasersproperty.com.au/about/history

Their press release states the following;

"Since 1924, Frasers Property Australia has created stronger, smarter, happier neighbourhoods. We are one of Australia's leading diversified property groups and an Australian division of Frasers Property Limited.

We develop residential land, housing, and apartments and have delivered over 150,000 homes during our legacy; and develop build-to-rent, commercial, retail and mixed-use properties. Our activities also encompass the ownership and management of investment property, incorporating property and asset management services."

Their parent company controls assets of $40B and is listed on the Singapore Stock Exchange.

The underlying property assets are still controlled by the deceased estate (Spiny Bob's family) that has a Court-appointed administrator from KordaMentha acting on behalf of beneficiaries. The majority of the land itself is not part of the transaction.

The Chair of the Waste Committee, Cr Curtis, has offered a budget update on flexi-skips, since we adopted the budget earlier this week.

📊 Budget Breakdown - FLEXiSKiP changes 🚚

Over the past months, many residents contacted me after repeatedly missing out on a FLEXiSKiP booking. Following Cyclone Alfred, demand increased significantly and the service was temporarily capped each month to ensure it remained within the allocated budget.

From 1 July, those monthly caps will be removed.

The trade-off is that a $50 service fee will now apply for each FLEXiSKiP booking.

I appreciate that users of this service won’t enjoy paying for something they previously accessed for free, however, the rationale behind this change is about fairness:

🔹 The service is accessed by a relatively small proportion of households, but is funded by all ratepayers
🔹 Moving to a modest user contribution helps distribute costs more fairly without constraining access
🔹 The change aligns with community support for a user-pays approach to waste services

Asking those who use the service to make a modest contribution (for a skip that privately costs $340-$350) is a fairer approach than continuing to have the broader community subsidise the full cost, particularly during a cost-of-living crisis.

A few things worth noting:

✅ Monthly booking caps removed
✅ One FLEXiSKiP per eligible household, per financial year
✅ Pre-orders open now

If you're in a complex and/or were previously ineligible for FLEXiSKiP, your Body Corporate can now tap into the Bulky Kerbside Remissions program for funding toward a private arrangement.

For those who prefer to self-haul, the City's Waste and Recycling Centres remain available, with recycling and green organics continuing to be accepted free of charge - general landfill waste incurs a $5 fee.
