Leave a Light On aims to raise awareness of missing persons cold cases in Australia. By working alongside other missing persons organisations we can promote long-term cases and raise awareness of the need for ongoing support for families and friends dealing with the ambiguous loss of a missing person. Leave a Light On was inspired by the memory of my sister Joanne Ratcliffe who was kidnapped from

the Adelaide Oval on August 25th 1973. After her disappearance every night my parents would leave the front porch light on in the hope that if she came home, she would know we were waiting for her. Even though more than 40 years have passed, the search for Joanne continues. Annually on 21 October, we ask everyone, no matter where you live, to Leave A Light On in memory of the many missing persons across Australia. Be it a front porch light, an indoor light, or burn a candle in memory, join us to Leave A Light On and brighten their way home. Personally, I hate asking for donations, but as Leave A Light On is a not for profit organisation, we rely on the generosity of the public for donations to cover costs, for example setup and catering for our yearly function for families and friends of missing loved ones. Tristan was only 14yo..

Last seen on 3/12/2020. He travelled from Nyirripi Community NT to Balgo Community Tanami, WA and arrived there on 1/12/2020.

He was 14 at the time of his disappearance and has not been seen since 3/12/2020. The Coroner has found that Tristan is deceased but could not determine how he has died.

Nicola Sallese has been missing since the 17th of November 2008. He was last seen driving through Sheffield, Tasmania in his silver Toyota Camry sedan.
Rego Number FH 2973.
"The search is still a statewide one, we know if we can locate his car, it will unlock some clues as to where he could be.
Any information can be forwarded to Tasmanian police on 131 444.

There is no useful waiting period when evidence is disappearing.

Families are often told by well-meaning people to wait before reporting someone missing.

Waiting can allow the most time-sensitive evidence to disappear.

State and Territory Police provide immediate reporting pathways, while Triple Zero should be used if the person is in immediate danger.

A family does not need a complete theory before contacting police.

The first response should preserve the facts that change fastest:
• the exact last known time and place
• a recent photograph, clothing description and vehicle details
• medical, cognitive, mental health or vulnerability information
• phone numbers, online identifiers like Google acconts and likely locations
• messages, receipts, CCTV locations and relevant calendar entries

Do not alter online accounts or edit original files while trying to help. Keep one master chronology, preserve the source of every entry and coordinate public appeals with police.

The uncommon lesson is simple: early information is evidence, not background. A later independent review can test whether risk indicators were connected, enquiries were prioritised and time-critical opportunities were pursued.

Urgent missing-person information should always be provided to police first.

You often see our K9s out training and assisting on searches, but behind every dog is a much bigger team of dedicated volunteers.
