There's been a lot of talk about the suggestion the Morwell Central Hotel on Commercial Road is going to be turned into a rooming house or hostel-type accommodation for up to 40 people.

This cannot be allowed to happen. Morwell already has a disproportionately high number of rooming houses, and this comes with issues because they largely house transient people and often people coming out of the jail system.

Nothing about this plan meets community expectations. There cannot be a giant rooming house in the Morwell CBD, which is already on its knees.

I'm calling on Latrobe City Council to stand with me and businesses in opposing this plan. It's time for council to step-up, and step-in to stop this development from happening.

Cracking Sunday morning out at the Glengarry Market ☀️

The main street was chockablock full of cars and people out enjoying all of the wonderful stall holders.

First stop as always was to Gippsland Gourmet Pies 🥧 as you have to get in quick before she sells out!

With the sun on our back it was time for a Sunday morning breakfast treat 🥟 from Doin' Dumplings as we watched the line get longer by the minute for people to grab their taste of Big Bears Donuts 🍩

Enjoy the rest of your weekend, if you’re in the area pop out and have a wander around the market.

What a pleasure it was to join the Traralgon, Morwell and Moe Lions Clubs as they celebrated their 60th Birthdays at the Morwell Bowls Club tonight.

To mark this special occasion they also decided to make it a 60s themed night, so I think there were plenty of outfits pulled from the back of the wardrobes!

60 years of supporting the community, always turning up, always raising funds for incredible projects.

Well done to everyone who was able to make it tonight you are all bloody amazing! I think the Lions BBQ trailers may stay in the shed tomorrow after a night of dancing and celebrating!

Yet another full house at Latrobe's Biggest Ever Blokes BBQ at Kernot Hall in Morwell yesterday. This fantastic annual event raises awareness and provides funding to assist research, diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer.

With the great man Peter Daicos as the special guest, much to the delight of the Collingwood fans in the room, it was awesome to hear about his own football journey and also how proud he is to watch his sons Josh and Nick do their stuff on the big stage now.

Our emcee for the day was the very funny Tom Siegert - The Suburban Footballer/Comedian who kept the crowd laughing the entire day.

We have some fun as we have a beer and a laugh together but the overwhelming message is for us blokes to look after our health and be proactive and get a prostate check as part of our own healthcare.

Small businesses are being held to ransom by Jacinta Allan and used as cash cows to pay down Labor's debt.

ASIC’s insolvency data shows 4242 Victorian companies collapsed or had a financial controller appointed in the 2024-25 financial year - a staggering 48 per cent in just a year.

Why? Because the Allan Labor Government has made it impossible to do business in Victoria.

Only the Nationals and Liberals in government will scrap the Emergency Services Tax, lift the threshold for land tax, increase the payroll tax threshold for businesses, and revitalise Victoria’s economy.

Yesterday in Parliament the Nationals and Liberals raised a motion of no confidence in Premier Jacinta Allan.

It's my job to listen to Latrobe Valley residents and act in their best interests, and the vast majority have told me they have no confidence in Jacinta Allan and Labor.

Victoria needs a fresh start and that begins with getting rid of the Labor Government.

If you agree, join our campaign of “no confidence” here: www.getridofjacinta.com

Heap of fun had yesterday as the Country MPs took on the City MPs in a morning game of touch footy on the MCG in what was a curtain-raiser of questionable quality for the State of Origin last night.

I did score a try after intercepting a pass from Brad Battin MP but then unceremoniously slipped after the touchdown, so the jury's out on whether that was actually a win or loss.

I'd be pretty happy to start every morning during sitting weeks with a run on the hallowed turf of the 'G, even if the scoreboard was wrong at the final whistle.

Big thanks to the NRL and Melbourne Storm for letting us run amok!

The 59th WIN Network Traralgon Marathon and Running Festival 2026 is underway at Glengarry this morning.

Huge number of runners lined up for the full and half marathon, with a 10km fun run also available to participate in.

With the weather absolutely perfect for the event, I’m sure all runners will be happy when they cross the finish line later this morning!

Run well everybody and enjoy the rail trail as you pound out the kms.

What a joyful occasion it was spending time with the Filipino Seniors and Carers Support Group of Gippsland Inc. and Alay Kapwa (We Care) Association Inc in Morwell today.

We came together for the Philippine Independence Day 2026 Celebrations and as always the event is filled with dance, music, laughter and of course so much wonderful food!

The work the Filipino community does throughout the Latrobe Valley is just incredible and to be able to show my support for them on a regular basis via these celebrations is something I really look forward to.

With all the formalities done and lunch being served it was getting time to once again turn the music on, get on the dance floor and grab a microphone for some afternoon Karaoke!

Events like these are a wonderful reminder of the rich cultural diversity that makes our region such a vibrant and welcoming place to live. Thank you to all the organisers, volunteers and community members who made the day so special. 🇵🇭❤️🇦🇺

Packed house at the Morwell fi****ms forum last night as I was joined by my Nationals colleagues, the legendary Gary 'Pud' Howard OAM, and about 150 fi****ms owners from right across Gippsland.

Victoria already has some of the strongest fi****ms laws in Australia. The knee-jerk review that was conducted unfairly targeted our law-abiding sporting shooters, recreational shooters, and farmers.

We owe it to our law-abiding fi****ms owners to continually work to protect their rights and ensure they are not unfairly targeted by shallow symbolic policy.

The overwhelming majority follow strict regulations, contribute positively to our regional communities, care for our environment, and conduct vital feral animal management.

Thanks to everyone who came along and shared valuable insights.
