SANDBAG SELF-FILL STATION OPEN NOW
Thursday 28 May 8:00am

With the potential for heavy rain today, sandbags and sand have been made available to the community in order to prepare and protect your property.

šŸ“ A Self-Fill station is available at the Back corner of Leumeah Commuter Carpark.

ā„¹ļø Important Info:
- You need to bring your own shovel or small bucket to fill the bags
- If you collect sandbags from the above location, please call 132 500 to advise of how many sandbags you have taken for your property. This will help us monitor supply levels, allow us to restock the station efficiently and help us gauge supply for future flood events.

- Once sandbags have been collected and used on your property, they are considered contaminated and cannot be returned or collected. It is the resident’s responsibility to dispose of used sandbags.

Find out how to use sandbags here: https://www.ses.nsw.gov.au/floodsafe/prepare-your-home/during-a-flood/using-sandbags-to-protect-your-home

• Clear gutters and drains where safe to do so
• Secure loose outdoor items
• Keep phones and devices charged
• Have torches and important items easy to access

And remember:

Over the past few weeks, a number of our members have been giving up their time to be on the water, learning and honing their boating skills

As of yesterday afternoon, we now have four new boat operators at the Campbelltown unit, two new trainer and assessors, and also a trainer for this course.

A huge congratulations to them all!

Thank you to NSW SES City of Sydney NSW SES Liverpool and NSW SES - Marrickville Unit for their assistance with training and assessing.

🧔 WOW Day 2026 🧔

On 20 May, we celebrate Wear Orange Wednesday (WOW Day) — a day to recognise and thank the incredible NSW SES volunteers who give their time to support communities across the state.

From responding to storms and floods, to helping communities prepare for emergencies, our volunteers are there when it matters most.

Here are a few simple ways you can show your support this WOW Day:
🧔 Wear orange on 20 May
🧔 Encourage your workplace, school, or community group to join in
🧔 Host a morning tea to recognise local volunteers
🧔 Say thank you to the volunteers helping keep communities safe

Let’s turn Campbelltown orange and show our appreciation for the people who proudly serve our community.

This week, a number of members from our Unit were honoured to receive the NSW Premier’s Flood Emergency Citation.

This citation recognises the efforts of individuals who supported their communities during the major flood events between 2022 and 2023.

Along with many other emergency service workers, our members showed up with dedication, resilience, and a deep commitment to helping others, often in difficult and unpredictable conditions.

Congratulations to all recipients, and thank you for the care, professionalism, and heart you bring to everything you do.

This year, Campbelltown SES had the privilege of attending the ANZAC Day dawn service and march in Campbelltown.

Our members proudly marched alongside the community and had the honour of laying a wreath, paying tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation.

Today, we remember their courage, resilience, and unwavering service. Their legacy lives on through those who continue to serve, and through all who carry their spirit forward in our communities.

Their sacrifice continues to inspire us, shaping the values we hold and the way we serve others.

This past week has been a busy one for our unit.

On Sunday we had a number of our volunteers undertaking their chainsaw assessment. Thanks to trainers from NSW SES Liverpool and NSW SES City of Sydney for their assistance.
Congratulations to our newly qualified chainsaw operators.

While at one end of the LGA members were undertaking their training, at the opposite end of the LGA the Community Capability Team were joining the Laos Community in their New Year Celebrations at the Wat Buddhalavarn Forest Monastery at Wedderburn.
A huge thank you to the Community for their warm welcome, and the SES Multicultural Liaison Unit for their support and assistance.
