Today is Child Protection Awareness Day and I proudly wore orange and my umbrella badges in support.

The umbrella represents protection, while orange represents the bright and happy childhood every child deserves.

Children should feel safe, supported and loved. They should be able to enjoy their childhood without fear and have every opportunity to reach their full potential.

Protecting children is everyone’s responsibility..

A privilege to be at the Orange Bike ride 4 Child Protection and help MC this event today- wonderful to look out across the City to a sea of Orange bikes riding in unison to promote awareness.

Thanks to Hearts and Hands Community Development for the vital work they do to raise awareness and keep child protection on the national agenda.

Just a number of volunteers in our City who have stood up to say: It’s not OK to hurt a child. Every day, it’s not OK.

A privilege to attend the annual fundraiser - “A night under the Stars” and support the work of Macquarie Care and their Car2Home project.

I am really proud to be in this city of Lake Mac - and be a city that cares… well done to Mac Life Church for seeing a need and doing something about it. Opening your car park to assist those who have no where else to go. Such a simple idea with such an impactful reach. Changing lives one car at a time.

During national homelessness week it is important to acknowledge those that are sleeping rough across our city and work together to find solutions.

I am committed to working with Council staff and our councillors to keep this issue on the agenda- to work with our local services and empower them to keep doing what they are doing and partner together to achieve change.

As the chair of the Access and Inclusion Advisory Panel - it has been a real privilege to work on this Action Plan with a number of stakeholders in our community working in the disability or aged care sector or with lived experience as an individual or carer.

If you know me - you know I am passionate about helping create spaces and communities where everyone is SEEN and feel they BELONG.

Bring your suggestions and ideas and help us create a more inclusive city.

Submissions close THIS Monday 13 July 2026.

You can now have your say on our draft Disability Inclusion Action Plan (DIAP) 2026-2030. This plan helps us shape an inclusive, welcoming Lake Mac where everyone feels they belong.

The plan prioritises improvement to access, participation and inclusion for people living with disability across services, infrastructure employment and decision-making.

We’ll also be hosting pop-up sessions to give you the opportunity to chat about the DIAP with our project team. Find out more details on our Facebook Events page.

With a maximum donation of $2,000, this program supports not-for-profit groups and organisations with strong local membership or participation, and funds projects that deliver clear benefits to the Lake Mac community.
