🔥 A little local reminder—bushfires don’t wait for summer.
This afternoon’s fire near Guildford Grammar School burnt approximately 20 × 20 metres and is now out. A small incident, but a reminder that fires can happen around our suburbs outside the peak summer months.
🌬️ For Lockridge, fires to our east are worth paying attention to when easterly winds are blowing. These winds blow from east to west and, under the right conditions, can carry burning embers towards our area. The risk depends on the fire’s intensity, wind direction and strength—not simply how close the flames are.
Embers can travel ahead of a fire and start new fires in dry leaves, gutters and gardens. Living in the suburbs doesn’t mean we can forget about bushfire preparation.
This isn’t to suggest today’s small fire posed an ember threat to Lockridge—it’s a reminder to stay aware and prepare before a more serious day comes along.
🍂 Clear accumulated dry leaves, keep gutters free of debris and have a household bushfire plan. That “I’ll do it before summer” job might be worth bringing forward a little. 😉
Stay informed, look out for your neighbours, and follow Emergency WA for official warnings and updates. 👍
