Crews are still battling the bushfire that started in Carlisle River. The fire has now burned 11,600 hectares. The threat is reduced, but the situation is not yet under control.

Crews have been working around the clock, patrolling the perimeter, extinguishing hotspots, undertaking hazardous tree assessments, and working to make access safe for local community members.

Stay vigilant and safe during this fire danger period. Our thoughts and support go out to all those impacted.

Over recent weeks, members of Leopold CFA have been deployed across Victoria to assist with fire operations and communities in need. Our volunteers have worked alongside crews from Mannerim Fire Brigade, Wallington CFA, Ocean Grove Fire Brigade, CFA Portarlington, Drysdale Fire Brigade, Queenscliff Fire Brigade, St Leonards/Indented Head Fire Brigade, and Barwon Heads Fire Brigade

We would like to extend a huge thank you to our neighbouring brigades for the teamwork, support, and camaraderie shown on the fireground.

A special thank you also to our local community for your continued encouragement, kind messages, and support of our volunteers while they are away from home. It truly means a lot to our members and their families.

We are incredibly proud of our volunteers and the commitment they show, both on deployment and here at home.

If you see +61 444 444 444 pop up on your phone, it's important you do not block it.

This phone number is linked to Emergency Alert, a national telephone warning system used by emergency services across the country to send voice messages to landlines and text messages to mobiles within a specific area to warn people about current emergencies.

Emergency Alert is not used in all situations, so it’s important to rely on more than just one source of emergency information.

Hi all, please be advised the thick smoke noticeable in our local community is as a result of the Otway fires and NOT a local incident. We are receiving a HIGH volume of activations as a result of calls that are not active fires. Please be aware of this information and statewide messaging below

Yesterday our crews battled a signifant housefire in Leopold alongside our neighbours from Wallington CFA Ocean Grove Fire Brigade Drysdale Fire Brigade and FRV 63, 64 & 66.

We’d like to thank everyone involved for an absolutely mammoth effort in trying to contain the blaze as best as the conditions allowed. On the job, we used 16 CFA breathing apparatus sets, working through in excess of 22 cylinders, pumped 100,000L+ of water over 6 gruelling hours & 11 fire service vehicles were utilised.

Our thanks are extended to Ambulance Victoria & Victoria Police for their immense assistance on scene. Sadly two homes were lost in this blaze and our thoughts are with the residents of these homes, and others affected by the multiple fires burning across VIC this week. Whilst being mindful of this, we are absolutely certain that without the efforts of our crews, that number of homes affected on this incident could have been many more.

Continue to monitor the VICEmergency app for local and broader community updates for any changes to the ongoing challenges we are facing.
