Today marks the start of National Road Safety Week. This year's theme is 'Pledge to Drive so Others Survive', giving us all an opportunity to make sure we're looking out for each other on the roads.

To start the week, it is important to remember the 1,300 lives lost on Australian roads each year. Over 40,000 people are also injured each year on our roads.

All road users have a small but important role to play in helping to reduce lives lost and injuries.

Emergency services have a vital role in responding to accidents, saving lives and making sure road users are driving safely.
