This advice applies to community in and around the Kunghur area. Don’t take the risk and call 000 if there is a life threatening emergency.

Lower Uki and surrounds flooding
Do not enter floodwater
Watch and Act

The NSW SES advises people in the following area(s) NOT TO ENTER FLOODWATER due to predicted major flooding:

- Low lying areas along the upper Tweed River

You should monitor the situation as it is constantly changing. Avoid floodwater for your safety.

What are we expecting?

Based on the predictions from the Bureau of Meteorology, rainfall associated with Tropical Cyclone Alfred may cause rapid river rises and extensive flooding along NSW coastal rivers.

Heavy and locally intense rainfall is forecast from Wednesday into the weekend over Northern NSW. Flash flooding is possible. High tides and large waves are expected to increase the flood risk and impacts in low lying coastal areas.

This event may change quickly. NSW SES will monitor the situation and update warnings if the situation changes.

Kunghur Rural Fire Brigade members spent their Friday evening refreshing their CPR and defibrillator skills. We were lucky enough to be visited by our first aid training officer for the region. Kunghur Rural Fire Brigade members continue to serve their community aided by their continually developed skills and knowledge.
