A few years ago, we helped film crew Carrying Everest to capture a documentary in Nepal about the impoverished Kulung people, subsistence farmers whose main source of income was working in the

Everest tourist region as porters, cooks and cleaners. We met some beautiful, welcoming people who, despite their hardships were always smiling.

In 2019, while filming our Bibbulmun Track adventure we met an incredible human called Mark Morrissey - who was just as surprised as we were meet a fellow westerner who both knew about the Kulung and had been there.

Mark has been working closely for many years with the Kulung/Nepalese mountain villagers in association with the Australian Himalayan Foundation and Nurses for Nepal. They provide child protection training, medical equipment supplies and raising funds for much needed medical care, particularly focusing on child and maternal health.

Stuck in WA during the Covid pandemic and with these villages critically short on supplies and support, Mark is now cycling (for the second time!!) 1080km on a solo unsupported bicycle trek across the Munda Biddi Trail to raise funds for urgent assistance in providing much needed care.

We made this video to show you the beautiful Kulung people we met in Nepal, and to support Mark in bringing essential nursing care, safe birthing services, and immunisation to these highly vulnerable mothers and babies.

Exactly 2 years ago, we started our 54-day, 1002km adventure of the Track in Western Australia. We had a silly idea to filming the whole damn thing. Wow, was that an adventure. And wow, are we so proud of ourselves. If we could, we'd be back there in a heartbeat. For now though, re-living the story we captured.

Our final episode of the Bibbulmun Track: Torbay to Albany!

The final stretch. Caroline crosses Torbay Inlet and savours the final stunning ocean views of the rugged coast. Mixed emotions arise seeing the mammoth wind turbines approaching Albany - symbolising the beginning of the end. Arriving at the Southern Terminus, Caroline reflects on the many memories, insights and connections with fellow hikers during this incredible 1002km, 2-month adventure.

We’ve loved sharing our journey with you - and we’re so happy to hear that so many people are making this adventure their own.

We’d like to express a huge thanks to the 300+ volunteers who help maintain the track and campsites. Without them, there literally wouldn’t be a track.

Thank you also to the 100+ volunteers who help run the Bibbulmun Track Foundation - providing up to date information on the website and social media, and giving advice to walkers. Some of them have been doing this for well over 15 years.

Sending gratitude to everyone who makes this incredible journey possible for all of us.

Bibbulmun Track episode 16: William Bay to Torbay.

Leaving William Bay hut, it’s a very hot day with clear blue skies. Caroline and Steve spot more wildlife and savour the beautiful turquoise waters of the southern ocean.

At William Bay National Park, Caroline climbs around some amazing huge boulders (and a few wrong turns!) to the peak of Mount Hallowell.

And then… another unexpected drama arriving in the town of Denmark. So close to the finish, but still there are challenges to face.

But Caroline pushes on anyway, determined to get to the finish line which is drawing closer.

Bibbulmun Track episode 15: Peaceful Bay to William Bay.

Wild weather continues, forcing an unscheduled rest day in the normally tranquil Peaceful Bay. After waiting out the storm, Caroline crosses Irwin inlet by canoe and makes her way over the 'showgrounds,' where she encounters lots of local wildlife, big and small. Then it's beaches, followed by more beaches, ending the day with an invigorating swim in Greens Pool.

Episode 14 of the Bibbulmun Track: Giants to Peaceful Bay.
This one is packed with it all. We explore the Valley of the Giants Tree Top Walk - a wonderful experience to walk high up along the tree tops over 40 metres above the ground! Then at camp, Caroline savours the smallest of things - like simply lying in the tent in nature doing nothing. Life is great.

Then it's an emotional goodbye to the forest for good, as Caroline hits the rugged coast. There is a bitter-sweet realisation that the finish line is drawing nearer.

Back on the exposed coast, the sand is soft and really hard to walk on. The winds are blasting and a storm rolls in as Caroline arrives at Rame Head - one of the most exposed huts of the entire track.

Episode 13 of the Bibbulmun Track: Mount Clare to Giants. After taking a busy 'rest day' in the quiet, idyllic town of Walpole, Caroline heads back inland through the Valley of the Giants, home to the majestic tingle trees.

Get ready for more amazing flora and fauna, more flies, hills, rain and winds, changing moods... and a rant at the end... let us know what you think about that. :)

We travel by exploring the world's best hiking trails.

Great Walks of the World is an upcoming travel & adventure documentary series about the the world of long distance ‘Thru-Hiking’. Walking for weeks, sometimes months at a time, carrying everything we need on our back, we set out to explore a variety of wild places around the world, showing the physical and psychological demands, the personal rewards to be found and the comradery endemic in hiking culture.

Sometimes we’ll be all alone, isolated and far from civilization in epic surroundings.

Other times we’ll stay in towns, cities and tourist parks along the way. Fellow hikers will have a chat and share a meal, share a laugh and play games by the light of headlamps well into the night.

Or sometimes it will be a quick, trailside chat, delving into their lives and exploring their reasons for walking the trail.
