Friends was nominated by an employee of Australia Post who knows us well as worthy of the opportunity to apply for a People Of Post grant up to $2000. Google Auspost's website for full information. Yes, we were emailed confirmation that Damien's recommendation was succesful. In a hurry, put together an application to help Hamilton Public School. The school had reached out for help with a much used, much liked native garden that needed a jooze and a refresh. Timing was perfect. If our grant application , no guarantees, succeeds Friends, the schools P and C, the schools grounds keeper, and the Rotary Club Newcastle Enterprise will collaborate in a hands on project to replant and mulch a garden next to the gate off Jackson Street. In addition two olfmd timber bebchvseats will get a rub back and repaint, plus supply another free standing bench from Replas which will be both durable and non maintenance. $1200 and willing hands will rejuvenate a much used space, improve its habitat value for small fauna, and having observed how the energetic students scurry and play in the area, give them just that bit more that looks good and feels good to be in.
