Battle of Crete: ANZAC Remembrance Walk

Battle of Crete: ANZAC Remembrance Walk My first Walk began 2016 in remembrance of the 75th Anniversary of The Battle of Crete. Hello! My name is Andreas Lionakis. Be part of History! It's Interesting

Will continue each year leading up to the 80th Anniversary of the historical battle. I'm planning my 5th Walk of Remembrance to raise awareness of the incredible bond between our ANZACS who fought in the Battle of Crete and the Cretan people. The Battle of Crete took place on the 20th of May 1941 and saw ANZACS fighting with Greek and Allied forces and most importantly with the local Cretan people

who formed their own militia groups to fight against the German invaders. It was an important historical event that has a direct bearing on the freedoms we enjoy today. This year marks the 80th Anniversary of the Battle, and my 520 km walk will commence on April the 17th from West End, Brisbane. Arriving back on Thursday May the 20th. This year I’m raising funds for 42for42 who are building a Afghanistan memorial to honour our fallen veterans. I am grateful for any support that you can give. Andreas is looking for Sponsors' and volunteer's to take on this journey, if anybody is interested in joining him in memory of this Historic Event you can message Andreas.
