πŸ’› End of Financial Year Giving πŸ’›

As the end of the financial year approaches, we'd like to take a moment to thank our incredible community for your ongoing support of Logan Wildlife Association.

Every rescue, every wildlife release, and every step towards our dream of establishing a dedicated wildlife hospital is made possible because people like you care about our native wildlife.

If you are considering making an End of Financial Year donation, donations of $2 or more to Logan Wildlife Association are tax deductible.

We know times are tough for many people right now, so please don't feel any pressure. Your support, encouragement, and sharing of our posts means the world to us. πŸ’›

However, if you are in a position to help, every dollar makes a difference and goes directly towards conserving South-East Queensland's native wildlife.

πŸš‘πŸ¨πŸ’ VOLUNTEERS WANTED – LOGAN WILDLIFE AMBULANCE πŸ¦œπŸ¦˜πŸš‘

Do you want to help save native wildlife in your community? Logan Wildlife Association is looking for passionate volunteers to join our Wildlife Ambulance Team!

Our ambulance supports injured, sick, and orphaned wildlife across the Greater Logan and Scenic Rim regions, helping transport animals from rescue sites, wildlife carers and vet clinics to wildlife hospitals where they can receive the care they need. We also support the hospitals by delivering wildlife to permitted carers for rehabilitation and also releasing animals back to the wild πŸ₯πŸ¦˜πŸ¦‰πŸΉπŸ¦”πŸ¦†

We’re incredibly grateful that this wildlife ambulance was graciously donated by Simone and the team at Moneybags Property in Jimboomba πŸ’š β€” helping make this vital service possible for our local wildlife.

Right now we’re starting with weekend services, but as our volunteer team grows, we hope to expand our capacity even further. That’s where you come in!

Whether you have wildlife experience or simply a passion for helping animals and your community, we’d love to hear from you.

πŸš‘ Wildlife Ambulance Weekend Wrap 🐾🌿

Here is an overview of what our dedicated volunteers got up to last weekend in support of our local wildlifeπŸ’š

Saturday:
Jess and her daughter Willow collected an echidna from Canungra Vet and safely transported it to the for a check-up πŸ¦”πŸš— A huge thank you to both of them for their time and care πŸ™ŒπŸ’›

Sunday:
We received the wonderful news that the echidna was given a clean bill of health and was able to be released back into its home habitat 🌿✨ (photo below)

We also had the pleasure of releasing a bush stone-curlew that had been receiving treatment at the RSPCA πŸ¦πŸ’« The curlew was returned home to Springwood. Thank you to Shevaun and Ben for undertaking the release πŸ™πŸ’š

Over the weekend, we also responded to several other calls:
β€’ A masked lapwing in Jimboomba with a suspected broken leg 🐦🩹 Despite our best efforts, the bird remained flight-capable and couldn’t be safely captured, so the case was referred to the RSPCA with their specialist equipment. Thanks to Rotary Club Of SEQ Wildlife Rescue for reaching out so we could help
β€’ A very unwell galah from Logan Village was transported to Yarrabilba Vets πŸ¦œπŸ˜” Sadly, the bird was found to have significant tongue trauma and a cancerous tumour, likely contributing to her poor condition.
β€’ A red-necked wallaby on Mundoolun Road, Mundoolun was also checked, but unfortunately had already passed due to a vehicle strike πŸ¦˜πŸ’”

πŸŒπŸ’š Happy Earth Day 2026! πŸ’šπŸŒ

Today, we join millions around the world celebrating Earth Day (April 22) β€” a global movement dedicated to protecting our planet and the incredible wildlife we share it with. 🐨🦜🌿

This year’s theme is β€œOur Power, Our Planet” β€” a reminder that real environmental change comes from all of us. Every small action, every local effort, and every community working together can make a big difference.

At Logan Wildlife Association, we see that power in action every day β€” through rescue, rehabilitation, conservation, and community education right here in our region. πŸ’ͺ🌱

✨ How you can help today:
🐾 Support local wildlife organisations
🌳 Plant native trees or create habitat at home
🚯 Reduce waste and protect natural spaces
🀝 Get involved in community conservation efforts

Together, we can protect wildlife, restore habitats, and create a healthier future for generations to come. πŸŒπŸ’«

We were back out on the road last weekend β€” responding to calls across Logan and beyond to help our local wildlife πŸ’šπŸš‘

Here’s a snapshot of what our team attended:

🐹 A brushtail possum that had been stuck inside a local sports centre canteen for several days at Mt Warren. When we arrived, we found the little one fast asleep on top of a drinks fridge! Thankfully, we were able to safely collect the possum and transport it to RSPCA at Wacol for a vet check.

πŸͺΆ We assisted with transporting a kookaburra from Canungra to RSPCA after it was suspected to have been hit by a car.

🦘 In Bethania, we attended a swamp wallaby that had become stuck in a backyard. She had a small joey in her pouch, and we’re happy to report we were able to guide mum safely back through the fence and into her natural habitat. Thanks to Wildcare Australia Inc. for alerting us to this pair in need of assistance.

πŸͺΆ A pigeon collected by Rotary Club Of SEQ Wildlife Rescue from Bunnings Browns Plains β€” suspected car strike β€” was transported by our team through to RSPCA Wacol for veterinary assessment.

πŸ¦‰ We also rescued a tawny frogmouth in New Beith after it was startled and flew into a brick wall. The bird was transported to RSPCA QLD for treatment and assessment. Thanks to Rotary Wildlife Rescue for alerting us to this bird in need.

🦜 A happy outcome as well β€” we were able to release a sulphur-crested cockatoo back into the wild after receiving a clean bill of health from RSPCA 🌿✨

A big thank you to our volunteers and the community members who continue to look out for wildlife and call when something isn’t right. We also couldn't do what we do without the support of Moneybags Property and Transurban πŸ’š

We’re so proud to share a special milestone! πŸŽ‰

Julie from has recently been volunteering on our ambulance, learning the ropes and gaining valuable hands-on experience. This weekend marked an exciting momentβ€”Julie successfully carried out her very first release! πŸ•ŠοΈ

The lucky patient was a beautiful sulphur-crested cockatoo who had been receiving care at the , and is now back where it belongsβ€”in the wild.

Amazing work, Julie! Thank you for your dedication, enthusiasm, and all the help you’ve given our team. We can’t wait to see what you achieve next! πŸ’š

It’s not every day we’re called to assist with a pelican! πŸͺ½

This beautiful bird was found at the Logan River at North MacLean, unable to fly, and we were glad to help ensure it made its way to Currumbin Wildlife Hospital for a full veterinary assessment πŸ₯

A big thank you to Flagstone Wildlife Rescue for reaching out 🀝 β€” we’re always happy to support the incredible work of our local wildlife carers and rescuers πŸ’š

We get all sorts of flying birds. However this guy is not doing the flying bit, so it's off to the specialists.
Oh, and if your a guy, watch out for the beak (if you what I mean).
