Great weekend at the first ever Carbine Match. I came 7th overall and we took 3rd place 🏆 as a team with .alpha_ and

Here is a taste of the kind of shooting involved. This stage was was named “Shooting Gallery” in which I scored 9 out of 10 points.

First engaging a rabbit at 30 meters with two shots (I missed one). ✅ ❌
Then a kangaroo head at 100 meters with two shots. ✅ ✅
Then a little boar at 100 meters with two shots. ✅✅
Then a big boar at 300 meters with two shots. ✅✅
Then a round plate at 400 meters with two shots ✅✅
That’s a long way for a 50gr .223!!!

Equipment was my trusty MPR Mini with the TRACE ED 1-10 on top. Along with my NAS bag for great stability on a wide range of barricades and rests.

Well done to everyone involved, I’d love to see this sub-discipline grow across the state.

The addition of the wall kit to my free standing awning is a GAME CHANGER.

Being able to stow gear in a large area that is protected from the elements is critical for the field work that I do.

Not to mention the comforts of having a large protected area to work in and it makes simple tasks like making coffee much more pleasant.

Easy to use too, just zip it on, and peg down the ends, DONE.

Early start with the team getting ready for the upcoming (sponsored by ) carbine match. Zeroing rifles, building DOPE, and stretching it out to 400m. There’s nothing better than seeing the data line up and hearing those clean impacts on steel.

We also got hands-on with some seriously cool gear, including the Maztech system, and ran through a few stage-style drills to sharpen things up under pressure. Feeling a lot more confident heading into the comp now.
