Special Delivery! 📮
Children have been learning all about how to post a letter and what happens after it goes into the post box! They helped fill in the details on their disco invites, added the stamps themselves, and I’ve just posted them into the local mailbox.
Now the letters are on their way!

💥 Kindy Myth Busting
🚫 Myth: “Saying sorry fixes everything”

✅ What we know:
Meaningful repair is more than words. Children need to understand impact and learn how to make things right.

🌱 At Kindy, this looks like:
✔️ Supporting children to check in with others
✔️ Exploring what could help (a turn, space, helping rebuild)
✔️ Building empathy over time

💬 Try this at home:
Instead of “say sorry,” try: “What could you do to help?”

💥 Myth #2: “Play is just play”

💥 Kindy Myth Busting
🚫 Myth: Play is just play

✅ What we know:
Play is how children learn best. Through play, children develop language, social skills, problem-solving and self-regulation.

🌱 At Kindy, this looks like:
✔️ Negotiating roles in dramatic play
✔️ Building and rebuilding structures
✔️ Exploring ideas through trial and error

💬 Try this at home:
Give your child time for uninterrupted play — it’s doing more “work” than it might look like.

A big thank you to SA Landscape Supplies for delivering our soft fall to kindy! 🙌

In Early Childhood Education and Care, compliance and safety are essential — especially when it comes to our outdoor environments. Knowing we have a local supplier who can provide and deliver compliant, high-quality soft fall gives us real confidence that our space is not only beautiful, but safe for children to explore, play, and take risks.

We’re proud to support local businesses who understand the importance of these standards and help us create environments where children can thrive.

Thank you for being part of our kindy community! 🌿

💥 Myth #1: “School readiness means knowing letters and numbers”

🚫 Myth: School readiness means knowing letters and numbers

✅ What we know:
School readiness is about how children learn, not just what they know.
Skills and dispositions like confidence, communication, emotional regulation and persistence are what truly support a successful transition to school.

🌱 At Kindy, this looks like:
✔️ Building relationships
✔️ Learning to manage big feelings
✔️ Having a go, even when things feel tricky
✔️ Engaging in play that builds thinking and problem-solving

💬 Try this at home:
Focus on conversations, turn-taking, and encouraging your child to “have a go” — these are just as important (if not more!) than worksheets.

💥 Kindy Myth Busting — Coming Soon 💥

At Hackham East Kindergarten, we often hear big questions from families and the community about what children “should” be doing before school…

✨ Should they know their letters?
✨ Should they be sitting still?
✨ Should they be sharing straight away?

The truth is — there are a lot of myths around early childhood.

And while they often come from a place of care and wanting the best for children… they don’t always reflect what we know about how children actually learn and develop.

So, we’re starting something new.

👉 Kindy Myth Busting 💥
A short weekly series where we unpack some of the most common ideas about early childhood — and share what we know from our work with children every day.

You’ll see posts that:
🌱 Make learning visible
🧠 Share the “why” behind what we do
💛 Offer simple ways to support your child at home

Because school readiness isn’t just about what children know — it’s about how they feel, how they connect, and how they approach learning.

We’d love you to follow along, reflect with us, and join the conversation.

💬 What’s a “kindy myth” you’ve heard before?
