πŸš’β€οΈ HAPPY FATHER’S DAY! β€οΈπŸš’
Today, the Bendigo Fire Brigade celebrates all the dads, stepdads, grandads, father figures and mentors who make a difference in the lives of others.
Thank you for your support, guidance and strength, and for always being there β€” both on and off the fireground.
To the dads within our brigade who balance family life with answering the pager, attending training and giving their time to serve our community β€” thank you.
And to the dads, partners and families at home who support our members when the pager goes off, often at the most inconvenient times β€” we couldn't do what we do without you.

From everyone at the Bendigo Fire Brigade, we wish all the dads and father figures across our community a very Happy Father’s Day!
Today, we honour you. β€οΈπŸš’

Our very own 1st Lieutenant, Alwyn, is still raising funds for three incredible organisations:
πŸ’™ Peter MacCallum Cancer Foundation
πŸ’› 000 Foundation
πŸ’™ Lifeline
This year, Alwyn is climbing in honour of Dean Mannes, a career firefighter and CFA volunteer who tragically lost his life to su***de in 2023.
Alwyn will be taking on the climb to help STEP UP and fight cancer, depression and su***de β€” and we’d love your help to get behind him! πŸ’ͺπŸ”₯
πŸ’° THE $1 MILLION GOAL IS WITHIN REACH!
Together, the climbers have already raised an incredible $739,774! πŸ‘
That means if every climber can raise just another $289.71, they’ll collectively crack the massive $1,000,000 mark! πŸ€―πŸŽ‰
Thanks to the incredible sponsors who support the event, every cent donated goes directly to the three foundations.
❀️ Every donation counts. Every dollar makes a difference.

πŸš’πŸ”₯ Bendigo Fire Brigade at the Onam Festival! πŸ”₯πŸš’

Yesterday, Saturday 22 August, members of the Bendigo Fire Brigade had the pleasure of attending the Onam Festival, hosted by the Bendigo Malayalee Association.

It was a fantastic opportunity to connect with members of our local community, talk about fire safety and preparedness, and share some important information to help keep everyone safe. 🏠πŸ”₯

The fire truck was certainly a popular attraction! πŸš’ Visitors had the chance to get up close, climb aboard, have a look through the truck and learn about the different equipment our firefighters carry and use when responding to emergencies.

We were also joined by our friends from Ambulance Victoria, giving families the opportunity to check out both emergency vehicles and learn more about the work of our local emergency services. πŸš‘πŸš’

A huge thank you to the Bendigo Malayalee Association for inviting us along and making us feel so welcome. It was great to be part of such a fantastic celebration and spend the day engaging with our wonderfully diverse Bendigo community.

We hope everyone who stopped by enjoyed having a look around β€” and maybe even learnt a new fire safety tip or two! πŸ”₯

πŸš’ Monday Night Training | Bendigo Marketplace Walkthrough πŸš’

After the past few weeks of theory sessions covering fire alarm panels, sprinklers and fire protection systems, our members had the opportunity to put that knowledge into context with a behind-the-scenes walkthrough of Bendigo Marketplace.

A huge thank you to Luke and Dave for taking the time to guide us through the centre and explain how the Marketplace's fire protection systems work together to keep the community safe. Their knowledge and willingness to share their expertise gave our members a valuable insight into the complexities of these systems.

It's safe to say everyone walked away having learnt something newβ€”even those of us who have been around the brigade for quite a while!

We'd also like to thank Bendigo Marketplace for welcoming us and supporting our ongoing training. Opportunities like this help ensure our members are better prepared to protect our community.

A Walk Down Memory Lane πŸš’β€οΈ

This morning, members of the Bendigo Fire Brigade had the privilege of touring our former home on View Street – a building that holds countless memories and an important place in our brigade's history.
As we walked through the old station, every room seemed to spark another story. Members shared memories of emergency call-outs, training nights, lifelong friendships, and the many moments that shaped not only our brigade but also the people who served within its walls. πŸ§‘β€πŸš’

For some, it was a chance to relive decades of service. For our newer members, it was a unique opportunity to hear firsthand what life was like at View Street and to better understand the proud legacy we continue to build upon today.

While our brigade has moved forward with new facilities and equipment, the spirit of service, camaraderie, and community that began in this historic station remains as strong as ever.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped make today's visit possible and to those who shared their stories. Preserving our history reminds us where we've come from and inspires us for the future.

β„οΈπŸš’ Monday Night Training πŸš’β„οΈ
While the temperatures may have dropped, our members were still hard at work tonight, swapping hoses and helmets for notebooks and learning materials.
This evening's training focused on fire alarms and sprinkler systems, helping our firefighters build their understanding of the systems designed to detect and suppress fires before they become major incidents. These theory sessions are an important part of maintaining and developing the knowledge required to keep our community safe.
Training doesn't always happen on the fireground – sometimes the most valuable lessons are learned in the classroom.
A big thank you to everyone who braved the cold and attended tonight's session. Your commitment ensures Bendigo Fire Brigade remains ready to respond whenever the call comes.

πŸš’ Bendigo Fire Brigade Taking on the Melbourne Firefighter Stair Climb πŸš’

This year, our 1st Lieutenant, Alwyn, will be taking on the 2026 Melbourne Firefighter Stair Climb in honour of Dean Mannes, a CFA volunteer from Axe Creek and career firefighter who tragically lost his life to su***de in 2023.

Dean’s passing is a powerful reminder of the importance of supporting the mental health and wellbeing of those who dedicate their lives to helping others.
Through this climb, Alwyn hopes to honour Dean’s memory while raising awareness and vital funds for causes that support firefighters, emergency service personnel, and their families.

The Melbourne Firefighter Stair Climb raises funds and awareness to help fight:
🟑 Cancer
🧠 Depression
❀️ Su***de
Every step (all 2,912) climbed and every dollar donated helps support programs and services that make a real difference in the lives of emergency service workers and their loved ones.

We are incredibly proud to support Alwyn as he takes on this challenge and carries Dean’s memory with him every step of the way.
If you are able, please consider supporting Alwyn's fundraising efforts and helping us continue the conversation around mental health, wellbeing, and support for our emergency services community.
Together, we can honour Dean’s legacy, raise awareness, and help ensure that no one faces these challenges alone.
πŸ’› Thank you for your support.πŸš’πŸ’ͺπŸ’›

πŸš’ WE NEED DAYTIME RESPONDERS πŸš’

The Bendigo Fire Brigade is looking for people who are available during the day to help protect our community.

Whether you're self-employed, work flexible hours, retired, studying, work from home, or simply have some daytime availability, we'd love to hear from you.

Our brigade responds to a wide range of emergencies including structure fires, grass and scrub fires, vehicle accidents, hazardous materials incidents and alarms. Every additional daytime responder helps us provide a faster and more effective response when our community needs us most.

No previous experience is required. CFA provides training, support, and a welcoming team environment. There are operational and support roles available, and volunteering is a fantastic way to learn new skills, give back to your community, and be part of something bigger.
