Book Fair Extravaganza - Gold Coast - Rotary Club of Coomera Valley

Book Fair Extravaganza - Gold Coast - Rotary Club of Coomera Valley We are the Rotary Club of Coomera Valley members who regularly bring book lovers like you an extravaganza of books, dvds & cds at our Book Fair!

Seeking hidden gems? Eager to support local charities? Are you a hungry book worm? Then this is all for you! Regatta Waters Lake is situated in Oxenford. On its shore is the Damien Leeding Memorial Park which offers a children's playground, picnic areas, bbqs, toilets and exercise equipment. The Moon Walk takes place every Monday and Wednesday from 7pm. Meet at the playground at Damian Leeding Park. Please wear aeroguard & bring a torch. Friendly dogs welcome & children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. All ages and levels of fitness are most welcome. This is a free community initiative organised by Kim, a local Regatta Waters resident and sponsored by Oxenford Neighbourhood Watch - so there’s no catch, no sales, no MLM or shakes to buy. Come along and meet great community minded people and enjoy the fun, relaxed atmosphere as we make our way around the lake by torchlight. Meet new people, make new friends. Importantly: You participation is voluntary and you are responsible for your own health and safety.

----------------------------------

The lake itself is suitable for secondary contact, non motorised water activities which includes rowing, sailing, kayaking and model boats. Care should be taken when entering the lake as the shores fall quickly into deep water and the depth will vary with the tide. Due to the water quality swimming is not permitted in the lake. Exercise equipment scattered at intervals around the lake. The distance around the lake, according to the GCCC Parks website, is 3.9 km however www.mapmyrun.com calculates it by GPS as 3.58km. Dog owners will also find an off-leash dog exercise area here and dog agility equipment.

We're looking for books, CDs and DVDs in good condition.

Donations can be dropped off at the Book Shed every Saturday from 9am until noon.

We're near the Cricket Club at the back of Cottonwood Plaza, Oxenford.

Your donation helps us stock next year's Book Fair and supports our Rotary Club of Coomera Valley's community work.

And there's something rather lovely about knowing that a book you've finished could end up being someone's next favourite.

Here's a lovely reason to pick up a book tonight.

Australian research shows people read for many reasons, with relaxation and stress release the most commonly reported reason. Australians also commonly read to learn, enjoy stories and escape into another world.

So if someone asks why you're sitting quietly reading...

Tell them you're doing something good for yourself.

WHAT ACTUALLY IS ROTARY?

You might have heard of Rotary. You might have seen the Rotary logo. You might even know someone who's a Rotarian.

But what does Rotary actually DO?

Rotary is a global network of people who come together to take action on issues affecting communities locally and around the world.

That can mean supporting education, improving access to clean water, helping communities after disasters, supporting health initiatives, protecting the environment and much more.

And importantly, Rotary isn't just about writing cheques. It's about people getting involved and getting things done.

Our wonderful President - Joyce - loves getting things DONE!

The Rotary movement began in 1905 and has grown into a global network with more than a million members.

So the next time you see a Rotary sausage sizzle, our book fair, fundraiser or community project...There's usually a lot more happening behind the scenes than meets the eye....and you could be a part of it too by joining our Rotary Club of Coomera Valley

📚 GOT BOOKS GATHERING DUST?

We're already collecting for next year's Rotary Book Fair!

We'd love to receive your books, CDs and DVDs, provided they're in good, saleable condition.

You know that bookcase you've been meaning to sort out?

That stack of books you've already read?

Those DVDs you haven't watched since 2014?

Someone else might be very happy to give them a new home.

Donations can be dropped off at the Book Shed every Saturday morning from 9am until noon.

You'll find us near the Cricket Club at the back of Cottonwood Plaza, Oxenford.

So have a little declutter, give your books another life and help support Rotary's community work at the same time.

One person's bookshelf clutter is another person's Saturday morning bargain.
