🎨 A little more colour on Murray Street!

Street art has a way of turning an everyday walk into something worth stopping for and there’s a new splash of colour to spot in Gawler.

The latest piece by Melita Murals & Art on the side of Elders Gawler on Murray Street. A fitting addition as we head into spring, bringing a little bit of nature, colour and creativity into the heart of the main street.

What a nice way to brighten up the street!

A few moments from a great weekend at the Gawler Show ☀️🎡

Perfect weather set the scene for a weekend full of rides, showbags, food, entertainment and plenty of happy faces around the Showgrounds.

And, of course, the fireworks were a real highlight, lighting up the sky and bringing Saturday night to a spectacular close.

Running since 1854, the Gawler Show is South Australia’s largest regional show and one of the biggest events on our community calendar.

Here are a few of our favourite moments from the weekend. 📸

A big thank you to The Gawler Agricultural, Horticultural & Floricultural Society Inc, volunteers, exhibitors, performers and everyone who came along and helped make it such a great weekend.

150+ years later… The capsule has come home, and its story is ready to be shared.

Sealed away in 1874, the McKinlay Memorial Time Capsule has made its way back to Gawler, and we’re getting our first look at what’s inside.

After careful conservation at Art Lab, staff from the Cultural Heritage Centre have been unpacking newspapers, journals and documents preserved by Gawler’s community more than 150 years ago.

The conserved items are now on display in the cafĂŠ area of the Gawler Civic Centre.

For 15 years in his retirement, Aubrey Kaesler quietly dedicated his time and expertise to one of Gawler’s most recognisable landmarks – the Gawler Clock Tower.

Through careful restoration, regulation and ongoing maintenance, Aubrey helped ensure the clock continued to keep time and remain a proud feature of our town centre. His commitment reflects something special about Gawler, people who care deeply about preserving the places and stories that make our community unique.

The Clock Tower is more than a timepiece. It’s part of Gawler’s history and identity, a landmark that generations of residents and visitors have looked to as they move through daily life, gather in the town centre and celebrate moments together.

Stories like Aubrey’s remind us that heritage doesn’t preserve itself. It’s cared for by passionate people whose contributions often happen quietly behind the scenes.

Thank you, Aubrey, for helping keep Gawler’s history alive and ensuring future generations can continue to enjoy this special part of our town.
