Mossy Point Fan Club MOSSY POINT lies between the pristine Tomaga River and Candlagan Creek. What an awesome holiday destination.

A headland, spectacular ocean views, a boat ramp, tasty snacks, aromatic coffee, stingrays, whales and so much more... It is the perfect place to watch the world pass by but it is just a stones throw from the action. Mossy Point is a sleepy seaside village nestled between the glistening Tomaga River and the surf beaches of Broulee. The locals don't want you to find out about it and you'll soon see why.

If The Bower Didn’t Exist… Where Would 44,200 Visitors Stay?
It’s a simple question nobody asks often enough.

Over 44,000 visitor stays have been accommodated at The Bower since 1999.

If not there…
where?

Because visitors would still come.

And without enough dedicated visitor accommodation, the pressure usually shifts into:

🏘 residential rentals
🏡holiday homes
®️short-term letting
⛺informal accommodation

That’s why purpose-built tourism accommodation matters.

It helps separate:

🥾tourism demand
from
🏘️permanent housing supply.

That balance is essential for healthy coastal communities.

The Bower Has Quietly Contributed For 26 Years
Not every important contribution to a community is loud or obvious.
For more than 25 years, The Bower has:
👋welcomed visitors
💪supported local businesses
👍created jobs
💲contributed rates and charges
and helped keep tourism demand within dedicated accommodation.
Approx 44,200 guest stays later, it’s become part of the Eurobodalla story.
Tourism accommodation and healthy communities are not opposites.
Done well, they support each other.

The Bower Supports More Than Tourism
Every visitor staying at The Bower helps support local jobs.
Think about how many local people benefit:
🧹cleaners
🏡gardeners
🔩tradespeople
☕cafes
🍷restaurants
🛍️retail staff
🚵tourism operators
🧰maintenance crews

Visitors spend money throughout the Eurobodalla economy.

That economic activity helps local families:

💪stay employed
💲pay mortgages
💰pay rent
and
🫶remain in the community.

Tourism done properly is not just about visitors.
It’s about sustaining regional communities.

What Happens When Towns Don’t Have Enough Tourist Accommodation?
Here’s a difficult truth:
When towns run out of visitor accommodation, investors often start buying local homes instead.
That’s happening across coastal Australia.

Purpose-built accommodation like The Bower helps absorb visitor demand without removing permanent housing from local communities.

Over 26 years, thousands of visitors stayed at The Bower instead of competing for:

▶️family rentals
▶️local housing stock
or
▶️residential neighbourhood accommodation

That matters in regions already facing housing shortages.

Good tourism planning is not anti-housing.
Sometimes it protects housing.

44,200 Visitors… But How Many Homes Did The Bower Save?
What would happen to local housing if all those visitors had to stay somewhere else?

Since 1999, The Bower has hosted:

▶️ around 17,000 reservations
▶️ averaging 2.6 guests each
▶️ equalling approximately 44,200 visitor stays

That’s 44,200 people who enjoyed the Eurobodalla without competing directly for long-term rental housing.

Without dedicated visitor accommodation like The Bower, much of that demand would likely spill into:

▶️ Airbnb conversions
▶️ holiday house purchases
▶️ residential rentals
▶️ investor-owned short stay accommodation

This is the part of the housing debate people often miss:

tourism demand doesn’t disappear if accommodation disappears.

It simply shifts into residential housing.

The Bower helps keep tourism demand where it belongs:
in dedicated tourism accommodation.

Most guests come to The Bower to slow down.
But what if you could go even deeper?

We’re delighted to introduce Joanna, our newest therapist, joining our team from Daylesford and Hepburn Springs... Victoria’s spa heartland.

With over 20 years’ experience, Joanna offers a deeply holistic approach, including relaxation massage, deep bodywork, Reiki, yin yoga, organic facials, and more.

Her sessions are designed to restore, rebalance, and gently reset—adding a whole new layer to your stay.

For returning guests, this is something you haven’t experienced before.
A quieter layer. A deeper exhale.

We can’t wait for you to meet her on your next visit.

Here’s something properly magical happening on the South Coast, and you’re invited. ✨

Our Bowerbird Arts Trail artists have opened up their worlds, proving that creativity is alive, buzzing and beautifully unexpected from Batehaven to Broulee.

Think paintings that seem to move, sculptures that almost sing, and birds that look like they’re about to leap off the canvas. The real magic happens when you step into the studio and meet the people who make it all happen:

Join us for a weekend of creativity, connection and coastal colour at the Bowerbird Arts Trail 🐦
🗓 6 & 7 December
⏰ 10am–3pm
